Why dont you just get a 14 Pro? Same price, better phone. I dont get why people get the base model when they could get the previous Pro (a better phone) for the same $$$

Well I switched from Galaxy S23 ultra to my very first iPhone 15 so I went for the Pro Max. I wanted to go for just the Pro but couldn’t downgrade in the screen size department also caise at that time it wasn’t available in stock
I got the same spec you are thinking of. I have had this thing for a month and so far I have no complaints whatsoever. The battery is amazing and the camera is great. I also wanted to get the pro but I got this and I haven’t looked back since. Imo, the camera on the 15 pro is too big and looks pretty ugly. But this isn’t about the pro. In summary, The base 15 is what most people should get and it will treat you right.
My amateur iPhone does everything I need it to do. I have always wondered why people buy a professional version. The only reasons I can think of are either playing games or showing off.
If anyone here regrets, can sell to me at a discount price! 😅
Planning to switch from 13 Pro to 15 Plus. I don’t think I will mind the screen downgrade much. More concerned about some macro shots or non-person portraits I was able to do thanks to depth information from the LIDAR sensor. But I REALLY look forward to the lighter weight and better battery.
certainly if I had but I got the 15 PM instead... still in processing will get it Nov 7.
As someone who has a 13 mini, the upgrade is absolutely not worth it, the only big differences are the A16 chip which is basically just an optimised A15 and the Dynamic Island, which, at least for me, wouldn’t warrant an upgrade on their own. Honestly, the 13 series is really the best to be on at the moment, the chip is only one generation behind and the rest of the specs are pretty much identical to the newest ones.
I got the regular 15 and have been perfectly happy with it. No issues and I like the screen size.
Ask I was playing with my gf's 15 and liked it so much, I bought one (in addition to my 15PM).
The only real thing that's missing for me is the ProMotion display which also allows for AOD. If Apple is really only going to keep ProMotion for the Pro models, they should really, at the least, give the base models 90 Hz displays.
My father has an 14 pro and I have a 15 base 256gb so I know each device. I never used a 120hz model (iPhone 11->15) I’m totally fine with 60hz (hate AOD too and in my opinion kills battery) and 2 cameras is enough for me Love this phone!
From what I’ve seen online there’s not much difference in photo quality between the different models of the past few years.
For the pro models, 3x zoom is pretty sweet. I use macro mode pretty often, idk why it’s only for pro models but it’s pretty good. Night time portraits need lidar, they’re also nice to have on the rare times I use it.
Screen refresh at 120 is great, but the pros also can have very low refresh rate for always on displays.
The usb 3.0 on the pros support display port if you ever want to attach a monitor to your phone.
Those are the main reasons to get the pro imo
Only ever upgraded because of iPhones breaking. Always happened when I had a “indestructible” case on them. All I have is just a number case on a 13PM, no screen protector, and dropped it a lot of times on hard surfaces and all I got is a small couple scratches that are hardly noticeable.
When I bought my last phone 11pro. I told myself I won’t upgrade til iPhones get USBC. Well this was the year to upgrade. The 11pro has a 60hz screen and I was tempted to go for the regular 15 since the 120hz was something I never cared, the 3x telephoto I never liked it(2x was better for me) and finally the ActionButton seemed gimmicky.
That said… there was something off putting about the 6GB ram the regular 15s have. Let me explain: when I got the 11pro I got it for the RAM since Apple bumped the RAM to 4GB instead of the 3GB all the phones were using at the time. I wanted to have a phone to be supported for a long time(since I didn’t know when we were getting usbc). Now again, I’m in the same boat. The pros got 2 extra RAM and I intend to keep this phone for 5-6years.
So I got the pro and let me tell you how wrong I was about the 120hz screen. Definitely smooth af. Also The action button with shortcuts is game changer for me. Just for the action button + the RAM the pro is worth it for me now
What do you need all the ram for?
I had the 14 plus ( base model just larger & bigger battery - largest battery of the Line) and it was okay , but I wasn’t a huge fan
I regretted not getting a pro version (what made it worse was with a trade in I could of gotten the pro for $200 , but I got the plus for $100)
I just upgraded to the 15 pro , and I have to say I will NEVER go back to the base models ever again
It’s deff worth it imo - even the screen out in the sun light , where base model and previous ones I’ve had were super hard to see outside , the pro I have no issue at all and the screen is WAY WAY better
Idk personally I’m loving the 15 pro 256G black and it’s my favorite iPhone I’ve had so far - I also wanted the new A17 pro bionic chip - the base model 15’s come with last years A16 Bionic chip (which is last years chip from the 14 pro and pro max)
No I wouldn't worry about it. There's advantages. For one it's a lot lighter and that's a good advantage
Only get the pro is you really want 120hz and the camera features
Otherwise if you just do basic point and shoot for whenever you need it and don't care about 120hz refresh rate screen just stick to the base model
Cheaper. Lighter. And works just as good
Honestly, if they included pro motion in the regular iPhones I'd get a regular instead of a pro any day.
Still with the 13 plus
No. I’m using iPhone 11. Running gracefully. ;)
I don’t regret upgrading from 13 pro to 15 pro, but mostly because I got the 15 pro 20% off and sold my 13 pro for a decent price. If I was paying retail then yeah think that I would regret.
Went to a flagship apple store today ready to buy a 15 Pro and all the iphones were super hot. I thought they already patched the overheating issue, no? Or do you think that the demonstration phones are not yet with the fix?
I always buy the top model since I tend to keep them long term. Bigger battery gives me more battery health to lose. I am still using my launch 13PM and plan to keep it another 2 or 3 years unless something tragic happens to it.
I regret getting a 15PM because it’s a brick 🧱 I plan on replacing it with the latest 6.1” base after financing is done ✅
This is the reason I don’t get the PM. It’s too big and you can’t really use it with one hand.
I buy whatever has the largest battery. And that'll probably always be the pro max. Couldn't give a damn less about the camera and other stuff. Just want to be able to go as long as possible without recharging. If for some reason the base models start shipping with larger batteries that's what I'll buy.
Plus ;)
I love my iPhone 13, no reason to upgrade
I came from an iPhone 8 and just recently got the base 15 model and it’s definitely worth the purchase. I have the sentiments with u in that I really don’t need the pro features that much.
Iphome 15 PM here, doesnt care with other feedbacks aswell
Heck no. I love the base model. I never realized how uncomfortable the bigger max is. I had a 6.5 I think 6.7 a little too big for my hand. Not missing the pro features at all. Plus mine was 100 percent free.
No regrets. I got one in Green 256 GB. Love the color. Upgraded from iPhone SE (2020). The upgrade is substantial enough for me to not warrant the need for a Pro for my daily use.
Depends on how you want to pay for the phone too. Financing options with 0% or paid by cash, trade in by selling after using for 2, 3 years. It’s not just spec by spec tbh.
I have a black base 15. For my use case, I don’t need to spend a couple hundred dollars extra on a Pro/Pro Max to do the exact same thing I’d do on a base model.
I’d keep your 13 and wait for at least another year before replacing it
I think the thing to regret here is upgrading from a base 13 to a base 15. Not much of a difference, the 13 would have served you for 2-3 more years.
I’m on 13 too and i can’t see a single reason why one would upgrade to a base 15. Even my battery feels like its a new iphone
I have the 128gb pink iPhone 15 and I love it so much! Frankly I’ve never had a pro phone, I upgraded from a 128gb iPhone 12 mainly because of the battery. My iPhone 15 works amazingly and I don’t regret upgrading for one second. I’m a pretty regular phone user so basically only call/ texts, social media, occasional photography, and I spend so much time in uni away from my phone so the battery lasts me more than 48 hours. Work I do over my laptop. On the other hand my mom upgraded from iPhone 12 Pro Max to iPhone 15 plus, also 128gb, and she loves it so much. She uses her phone a lot for work to make calls, meetings etc so she needs her battery strong. She doesn’t notice any changes from her PM because she’s also a regular user that doesn’t care too much for pro features. We don’t regret our purchases! Hope this helped a bit
No, the base model is perfectly fine for my phone usage. I am satisfied
I’m the reverse. Bought a 15 pro and really wasn’t sure I needed it. Or better said, don’t need the pro specs. I get carried away with purchases and thought about getting the 15 plus or regular because of the cost. I’m the end I kept the pro and my 14 day window closed on Friday.
