If I know smart people, the one thing they love is constantly having to fight for resources and their job, at lower pay than they deserve, with a risk of getting censured and death threats if what they publish upsets the uneducated masses or moneyed interests.

It's true. Living like actual people feels degenerate to us. We need the abuse.

Well, like the Pedo-in-Chief said: smart people don't like me.

So there's your reason for smart people fleeing the swamp.

If people with education, experience and good judgement don't like you... it's a clear sign that having those things distort your thinking! /s

Europe has a lot to prove before we can believe that. Maybe step out of Putin’s shadow as a start.

The current state of America reminds me of post ussr Russia. They maintained their power position by attracting the best and brightest. But then the party was over. And. Well, look at the state of the scientific advancement in Russia. This is America's future. The average American is barely able to read the instructions to tie their crocs. And turning education into the WWE. Doesn't bode well.

I usually complain people should not leave but honestly that is for us pleabs. If your a massive net gain to the country then im all for it. Im an old enough fart that unfortunately most of the gain I have given is previous to now so ill just be a nice thorn.

considering they arnt before the pandemic either, since its heavily gatekept right out of college through various means. most of what ive seen when job searching in stems, is they cater to international scientist level talent, or h1b visa holders instead. entry level isnt exactly easy to get too. its really meant for people who are well off for grad school, unless you are very lucky as an undergrad. no wonder i see so much disastified reviews of my state uni, and other unis after graduation, its a systemic problem since '08.

trump just happened to be the latest symptom and accelerating the decline of stem in the us, that is not HEALTH, or programming.
