Dk the correct place to post this but…..Yh

I feel like 💩 everyday. The ugly duckling out of my sisters. The freak of the family.

I hate feeling too ugly to actually do anything everyday. See anyone one…and like I’m just wasting my life away

I hope I get approved for it. It feels a bit like The Substance and that movie freaked me out.

Any info on the topic would be helpful especially if you have personal experience or are in a similar boat.

Edit: a few months ago I was talking with my brother who’s a couple yrs younger about taking testosterone cuz I saw a video of a gym girl saying she’d taken it and thought it might help me and he said best not to cuz once you take it you can never say you’re “natty”…

Gender affirming care is important (for cis or trans people) but it won't cure mental things like that. Many many trans people still think there hideous even with highest amounts of estrogen and zero testosterone. If it's low in your system that can help you physically but not mentally. In my own honest opinion of someone who has seen a therapist (or psychotherapist) is to go see one of its that bad. Get one that listens and responses to you.

Estrogen most likely will not solve that problem. I still feel like you describe after 15 years in estrogen and yet everyone says I don't look at all like a guy anymore. Don't blame yourself for societies failures on people who are not "perfect" looking.

this is a common misconception, but if you are trans, having the wrong hormones suppressed and the right hormones through HRT can actually directly improve mood and mental well-being, my depression and anxiety went away from taking estrogen alone (without any body changes)

I have done counselling with a few different counsellors but I think it’s probably mainly a somatic issue.

I’m sorry that you feel this way too…

I just wanna fit in

Depression sucks. It's especially bad when it sneaks up on you. Get some blood work done to see if you're short on anything, and sit down and think about your life some. I've dealt with depression before, and I know how much it sucks. The thing to keep in mind is that most, if not all, problems can be fixed (and I'm drawing a blank on unfixable problems right now).

Good luck to you and God bless.

Sounds like depression, ngl. Did you have your hormone levels checked and they are low? As someone how has struggled with depression for a while there has been no magic bullet and it kind of seems like you think there is. Maybe all your suffering is due to one single cause but...

Just messaged my gp last night about getting them checked.

Yh…I’m just hoping and willing to try this. If it can make assigned males at birth look and feel like women then I’m sure it will have a positive effect on me you know?

Just make sure you don't skip steps. Therapy is very important and mental health is a powerful thing and effects out entire perception of reality.

[–] osanna@thebrainbin.org 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

what do you believe it will do for you?

[–] hayyy@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Make me feel more comfortable in my own skin through giving me hormones I may be lacking.

That could be a complete game changer.

I hope it makes your life better, and that you get approved. There's always the DIY option though.

Thank you. What’s the DIY option?

[–] osanna@thebrainbin.org 1 points 2 days ago

you can buy oestrogen online. You have to be careful though.

As somebody hit with mental health issues, how do you know it's that? Not criticizing, but there's a lot of stuff it could be...

[–] hayyy@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How do I know it’s the solution?

I don’t but atp I just want to do anything to feel better and this looks like it could help.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I suppose you're US based? Might be your best option.

Otherwise I'd recommend good medical research at a doctor and also therapy.

The, depending on your insurance possibilities I'd go check with a doctor. It's not unheard of to have chemical imbalances, I know a person firsthand. And she really required specific stuff to be OK at all.

Also therapy would be the mental side. For me it was neurodivergence.
