Lesotho’s Foreign Minister Lejone Mpotjoane told the news agency that water is a vital resource for southern Africa.

Mpotjoane underscored that water remains not only one of his country’s most important strategic resources, but also that of the region. “This is one of the most important issues for Lesotho as a water source for the Southern African region.”

Cote d’Avoire’s Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition, Abou Bamba, highlighted his country’s investments in sanitation and water, the latter playing a crucial role in its overall development process.

Bamba extoled his country’s steady progress toward universal access to drinking water, while reiterating the need for accompanying improved sanitation systems.

Mpotjoane and Bamba stressed that strengthening African-led solutions and deepening regional cooperation will be essential to guaranteeing those services, describing water security as fundamental to sustainable development and public health across the continent.
