Urban landscapes could be cooled by up to 3.5 degrees using a QUT-developed AI-based tool that optimizes where trees and which species are planted to make cities cooler, greener and more resilient in the face of climate change.

Why do they need AI to do this? The answer is, they don't. Also, it's wrong about the details, I guarantee it. The thing is, even the "wrong" species planted still works. So, I suppose this is at least a harmless enough "use of AI". On the other hand, it's a bit ironic considering this could easily be handled with a much less resource-intensive one educated brain, and pencil and paper.
