More or less. Enormous Trek nerd. He said some stuff that really disappointed me (He called Season 3 a return to 'Real Trek' and I'm just really tired of hearing that gatekeepy bullshit) but he produced an incredibly enjoyable final season. It had its mistakes but what doesn't.
That being said, he started on Star Trek a long time ago. He worked on the last two seasons of Voyager and all of Enterprise. He was primarily an assistant to an executive producer but he also wrote the stories of two S3 Enterprise episodes. So while he's an enormous Star Trek nerd, as stated by himself, he has a surprising level of connection to the show
