General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Restore Britain to what?

If we're aiming to restore Britain's glorious past, I vote we restore the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, I'd happily join the forces of Wessex against the East-Angles.

"Bloody Anglo-Saxons, comin' over 'ere from northern continental Europe with their inlaid jewelry, and their shit burial traditions. And their miserable epic poetry."

All the way back to hunter-gatherer cultures. Gotta build up doggerland as well.

There's still a lot of doggers around here. The layby just past motorway services at the edge of a forest is a popular spot.

Better get learning your Welsh mate, King Arthur is gonna return and boot the Anglo-Saxons out

And yet that room has more political value than 10,000 voters Under 40. ( We're doomed)

There are a lot of people in this picture who believe it’s spelled “should of”

[–] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Just curious, because it's not apparent in the picture... Are there other ethnicities in Britain?

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 10 points 1 month ago

If Rupert Lowe is to be believed, other ethnicities are actually taking over

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Absolutely. There‘s even a joke that “There are no Englishmen in London” because there are so many foreigners and British people of different ethnicities.

But they wouldn’t be at this gathering.

Younger people too busy working to fund the audience's superannuation...

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

No offense, but that's about what I expected when I clicked the image. I would've hazarded lower attendance, but I'm an optimist

I noticed a similar thing with Reform - at one of their rallies, nearly everybody in the audience was an old white man.

Would think it's a Targaryen family gathering with all this white hair

The pink skin isn't the lighting, it's just the ruddy cheeks of the Gammon.

Jimmy the Giant branded them as Cotwolds supremacists which just feels very apt.

Release the hounds!

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 1 points 1 month ago

Sure, that's how it starts.
