Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

How long until the USA citizens finally wake up? And Trump goes away once for all?
What's frustrating is that these are the costs of corruption. This, or that time they sabotaged the postal system in order to try and stifle mail-in voting. Taking a system that's working, and making it not work any longer, doesn't make things better for anyone. It's just overhead! It's paying to knock down a functioning building, leaving nothing in its place, and then paying every month to maintain a fence around the rubble.
No one benefits from this, except some people that shouldn't be in power get to stay in power, so they can keep doing stuff like this to stay in power, and no other person sees any growth, improvement, or value. That would cut into margins.
This is the standard mantra of the Republican Party - they claim "government doesn't work", then get into power and set out to make their childish little slogan the actual truth. Because they wreck everything.
And of course, all the Murc's Law Media and reactionary centrists stand there and blame the Democratic Party for not fixing it fast enough when they get even the slightest amount of power. It's even more infuriating when a lot of the left takes up the very same framing, which only helps the right.
Step one, require everyone to bring a passport to register to vote. Step two, stop processing passports.
Step three, send waves of Gestapo to round up those who can't prove their citizenship.
Clearly that’s the problem in the U.S. - we did this step 0!
if they want to pass a law requiring voter id because they actually care about fraud, then they would expand their services so more people could get a hold of ids. just another example of them clearly not wanting "free" or "fair" elections. its just a convenient cover that their intellectually deficient voterbase will lap up like dogs. loyal to a fault.
why stop? they can be submitted by individuals right? ie: we can diy it? then the lib can help someone diy it.
They don't just help people fill out the apps, they accept the applications
Acceptance facilities include post offices, clerks of court, public libraries, and other local government offices which accept passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
You must submit your passport application, documents, and fees at an authorized passport acceptance facility. The passport agent will verify your ID, give you an oath, and have you sign the application.
gotcha. been a while for mine and need to renew, I had forgotten that there were sorts of checks like that, it just seemed like the guy was like “ok looks fine will send in.”
Your very first passport is subject to additional scrutiny. You generally have to go to a local facility that accepts applications, present your original documents, and attest that they are genuine. Then, all the documentation is sent to the State Department where they validate it all. When the passport is issued, your supporting documents are returned to you by mail. (I hope you didn't have to move in between!)
