They were probably saying something nasty about elon and it just stopped and kicked them out

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Tempting to stick something like "$1 a hit" and then leave a sledgehammer by the curb.

[–] mech@feddit.org 1 points 11 hours ago

Now I'm wondering how illegal it would be to put a sign like that and a hammer on the sidewalk next to the car.
Sure, it's littering. But would it be anything else apart from that?

Why is there a parking payment kiosk next to the bus lane on a road with no street parking? Something isn't adding up here.

[–] hildegarde@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Found the location on street view. The bus lane is a weird partial bus lane that only exists on part of the block. Most of the lane is available for parking.

The bus lane areas are painted red, and there is a sign at the start saying no parking/tow away zone. But they aren't aligned properly. The red pavement starts about a car legnth before the no parking/tow away sign.

In most traffic codes, signage takes precidence over painted markings on the street. So as far as I can tell, the truck in the picture is parked legally, despite being on red pavement.

This is some particularly stupid street design, and this post is an incredibly manipulatively framed picture, with the sign just out of frame, but not an example of illegal street parking.

I mean this all depends on if there's actually a parking spot there. I know in the city I live in parking kiosks each parking spot is numbered so that way when you pay for parking you pay for the numbered spot itself. And bustling areas there are no numbered areas like that.

[–] hildegarde@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

There is a sign that says no parking in front, paid parking behind. Its clearly visible in the picture I attached to my comment if your instance can display it.

Parking kiosks are not regulatory signs, which is why I mentioned the sign rather than the kiosk.

Parking is by plate not space. There are no individually marked parking spots on this street.

I flip off every cybercuck I see. You can't own one without supporting a fascist so everyone driving one is an asshole. I think you should be socially ostracized for owning one of these pieces of shit and I am doing my part.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I used to, then I did it in heavy traffic, and saw this guy go crazy. He got stuck behind me, but was trying to catch up, and I noticed his window was down. I figured he wanted to yell at me, but he never got the chance.

Two days later they arrested a SwastiKKKar owner after he took some shots at someone who flipped him off on the same highway.

Same guy? I like to think so. SwastiKKKar owners are weirdos.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

They ought to be wearing something they can't take off.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

I'd rather die to a fascist than live with them.

Rip off the windshield wiper. They're proprietary to this vehicle and aren't cheap.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 39 points 1 day ago

Only in minecmaft, of course.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These cars take pictures of everyone that approaches the vehicle.

Please photograph the license plate next time.

[–] chasteinsect@programming.dev 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Where the license plate numbers at?

[–] snowdriftissue@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Only 29 US states require a front plate

[–] beetus@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Illinois, where this pic is from, is one of those states! Maybe this car is from out of town

[–] macaw_dean_settle@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Many teslas in Illinois do not have their front plates. It is the law here and when I questioned an officer about enforcement, he stated, "It will just get tossed out." That and police hate doing their jobs.

[–] PanGodofPanic@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I live in Wisconsin and it's the same here. I don't have one on the front of my car cause I would have to drill holes in mine to install one (no idea why it didn't come with a place for one already setup, it's originally from Illinois), but also I only drive rarely and when I essentially have to, or in the winter because my local bike infrastructure is seasonal. Never had any issue with it.

[–] snowdriftissue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

You should look into studded bike tires. I was in a similar situation but figured out how to ride in the winter even in my town that completely half asses snow removal. Sold my car and started using uber/lyft and an hourly car rental service (zipcar) to fill in the gaps. I've saved thousands of dollars in no time and now I don't have to maintain a car anymore.

[–] snowdriftissue@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Likely. Several states that don't require front plates border Illinois

[–] s38b35M5@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Kind of funny to see, "only" used to describe 3/5 of a whole. That's most states, though even the ones that do require it rarely use it as more than a pretense for a stop.

That looks like a cybertruck, does it even have paint to be damaged?

[–] sibannac@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

It has a wrap. Which is replaceable at great cost to the owner. It would be a shame if someone used it as a whiteboard or somehow water got underneath the wrap or if it found itself by a fire.

[–] LemmyShemmy@aussie.zone 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Lol people are too fucking stupid. Why would anyone buy this POS car  its a literal spying machine and its not even spying on others, ITS SPYING ON YOU

Also Elon musk is a pedophile billionaire who can come after your kids next and you can't do anything about it coz you're slaving a 9-5 and he has billion dollars

[–] ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It also spies on others as well, because the exterior cameras are also uploading to Tesla.

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No registration plate on the front? That'd be illegal where I'm from. You need to be able to identify the car from both sides, after all.

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

That's the law in Illinois as well.

[–] purplemonkeymad@programming.dev 20 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Why is there even a parking meter there if it's a bus lane?

It's not a parking meter. It's one of those electronic paying stations (pay box). You can zoom in. It even says so.

[–] Meron35@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

They're there because the city needs to pay the private company that owns the parking spots for the space the bus lane occupies

(Actually not sure about this specific case, but wouldn't be surprised if it was, since Chicago Parking Meters owns all the parking meters too)

I miss the brief moment Tesla dealerships were being vandalized or set on fire.

[–] AeonFelis@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Where does it says it's a bus lane? I only see "SNB", which stands for "snob" - which makes it perfectly acceptable for a Cybertruck to park there.

[–] qbus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

But this Tesla is illegally parking and stealing money from a private equity firm since Chicago sold all their parking revenue...

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Woah now, are we sure killing somebody is the right call here? It's only illegal parking after all.

[–] snowdriftissue@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Chicago city policy is that 911 is the number to call if illegally parked cars are blocking traffic so they can send out a dispatch. Calling the police is literally the correct answer.

[–] darklamer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

Woah now, are we sure killing somebody is the right call here?

Do you think that someone should be allowed to own a Tesla without being murdered?

[–] rajano@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Calling a local towing service is also an option.

He'll screech about public transport being communism or something if confronted.

[–] black0ut@pawb.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The bus lane is red! That proves it!

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Wake up, sheeple!
