Zulip has a big jump, but worth pointing out that this is part of a wider trend, and other software has seen bigger jumps.

The export function doesn't include the legend, so the order from top to bottom by the final day of the graph is:

  • Matrix
  • Signal
  • XMPP
  • Zulip
  • Stoat
  • Rocket.Chat
  • Mattermost
  • Discourse

Thanks for introducing me to this tool. I hadn't come across it before and it's pretty nifty!

zulip is great, not really a discord replacement, they don't have built-in streaming/video/voice but it's a great chat server and seems like a very ethical open-source project with a backing business, I've got nothing but praise for them

Apparently no E2EE, so probably only a good choice for public servers

It's very commonly used in academia. (Well, I can only speak about math communities, since that's where I have experience. I guess math people are usually more into FOSS than others in academia.)

Anyway, I love it.
