I don’t get how the rich and some politicians can just become the stereotypes they’ve been cast as in movies for…like forever!

“Hey that thing you’re doing is evil”

“Yeah but if I don’t do it first, some other guy will.”

Best movie ever made without colour IMO.

It's a good one. Might not be in the #1 spot for me but probably top 5 unless I'm forgetting some absolute masterpieces.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb in case anyone scrolling by is unfamiliar. Something about whippersnappers, back in my day, uphill both ways, ouch my joints, so on.

That's how human psychology works.

It was found that super-rich individuals legitimise their wealth acquisition and spending by presenting themselves as psychologically superior to the less affluent and as a result, deserving of their extreme wealth. By drawing upon meritocratic ideology, individuals managed their moral identity as their wealth and consumption is warranted as earned

And in our society, wealth is what matters the most. This in contrast with older (smaller) societies where status is derived from generousity.

Describes Musk and his god complex perfectly.

They're stereotypes for a reason.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s more like, when they watched those movies, they kind of got inspired by the villains and thought the negative portrayal was the fictional part.

They have always been waiting for the opportunity to do villain stuff and do it as long as they can get away with it (like doing a certain salute).

Remember the time Robocop shot that dude in the dick?

Haven't seen the original, so this is canon for me now 👍👍

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've seen both, this one is still canon.

You have ten seconds to comply! [Mechanical Growl]

[–] TeamAssimilation 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

User declines using the application and escapes downstairs, robot pursues, falls down and can’t get up [mechanical tantrum with loud pig squealing]

[–] BallShapedMan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

This is the right answer! 🤣🤣🤣

And now I want to see the CEO doing just this.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago

I love robots, but ED209 scared the shit out of me as a kid.

[–] GenosseFlosse@feddit.org 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"By next year, i will have a million of fully autonomous ED209s on our streets to protect me from wokism!" - Elon Musk, probably.

The difference between this and reality is the asking for consent.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did you not agree to the ToS?

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

For all the cameras in the street? For Ai using my data? For companies trading in my data?

Hell no, what ToS, I've never got one.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

I thought the scenario at hand was going to a cinema.

For the public space, sure, there's only laws.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If only there was some way to watch classic movies without using a corporate streaming service.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 3 points 1 month ago

Seems all the classic movies on corporte streaming are "Leaving soon" because of profit optimizing licensing anyway.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Rated R for Robot

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Is this the old version or the new version

[–] edinbruh@feddit.it 2 points 1 month ago

You know, Hideki Konno predicted all this

[–] capcool@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Its a good run discord. Have fun!

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Asking for consent is already better then what we’re seeing now

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

He's not really asking.

And then Omnicorp's OmniSeer age verification system (alongside with ChatOCP and OmniCasso Art servers) get hacked, leaking a ton of user information
