There are more red flags than a crypto job listing 💀

I'm guessing Mako has a grudge against the director, and is looking to set him up. Perhaps the director did not cast her in her preferred role and she felt snubbed? Kana is just unlucky to be used by Mako and become collateral damage.

Then, Aqua would usually be the one to come in and save the day. But now that Hikaru has been revealed to us, I think Hikaru would be the one to get involved and get Kana out of a pinch. This way, it brings our cast one step closer to Hikaru, and to resolving the main plot.

Aqua kinda saved the day if he didn't really do anything, just appeared in memories.

Also fuck paparazzi, why do people care so much about other people's lives? Zero respect to actor's privacy.

My impression is that that is not just any random paparazzi. He's either a paparazzi who got tipped off by Mako, or he's a detective of sorts, hired by Mako to take compromising photos of them.

In fact, I'm surprised that there are no hidden camera planted indoors.

Yeah, this wasn't very clear in the manga, but I think the anime makes it more or less explicit that she tipped off the paparazzi. Kana texts her exactly where they are going and she ducks away and makes a call right after being told they are heading to his studio.

I didn't even think of that! But it really makes sense. Why would she do that though? Out of spite? Well she wasn't exactly friendly but this is just malicious.
