I just want another win for Alonso

... is that too much to ask :/

[โ€“] Rheinish@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Looks like not even Newey's magic can overcome Alonso's bad luck. That man is truly cursed.

I like the little crossover that happens during testing โ€” seeing Crofty and Kravitz on F1TV.

Eyes

Williams being silly during testing lol

Disney sponsorship incoming

[โ€“] Aedis@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Would that make Verstappen a Disney princess if it happened?

Bad news: Firefox is not officially supported by F1TV, even after changing the User-Agent... FFS

I couldn't even log into F1TV website on Firefox mobile to link my TV!

[โ€“] t0fr@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah I don't think Firefox supports the DRM for live watching. And definitely not if you're on Linux

I believe this has to do with HDR more than DRM.

It used to work on Firefox on Windows! I was watching F1TV on it until they blocked it and I was forced to switch to Multiviewer.

Yep, that's how I found about it. Utterly stupid.

Uh oh, it is hard to tell apart the Aston Martin and Cadillac logos on a glance in the timing tower...

[โ€“] Nighed@feddit.uk 10 points 3 days ago

It's fine, they will be at the back together, so it won't matter.

[โ€“] Rheinish@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Aston Martin and fat Aston Martin.

[โ€“] CMLVI@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Fatson Martin, if you will

[โ€“] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 2 points 3 days ago

I know it's only testing, but happy to see McLaren right up there still!

The Audi sidepods are looking wild.

Fresh off the 3D printer

Best time of the year. I also like that there is no TV coverage for most of the day, which forces me to follow the autosport commentary. Somehow this feels more magical than watching it on TV.

[โ€“] wes@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I kind of like having the practice days on tv or computer as background noise. But thanks for the autosport tip, added to the topic ๐Ÿ‘

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 4 days ago

Same, it's lovely to have as a kind of podcast.

[โ€“] Rheinish@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I don't understand the need for secrecy. Everyone they would need to keep things secret from is on the track with them.

[โ€“] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 5 points 3 days ago

Teams donโ€™t want reliability issues making a public spectacle. The second test will be shown live in its entirety.

[โ€“] Danitos@reddthat.com 2 points 3 days ago

IMO, it's not secrecy with other teams, is with the public. They don't want team's problems to be widely known by spectators, as that would create a bad image for the team.

Notice how in the YouTube Day 1 highlights of Barcelona shakedown video they conveniently ommitted that there were 3 red flags due to car's reliability issues.

[โ€“] birne@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I don't think it has anything to do with secrecy. I think it has more to do with the fact, that not many people will watch pre season testing. Also there will be coverage for the last hour of the day and full coverage for the next week.

[โ€“] Rheinish@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

That's fair. Generally, I would expect more interest in the pre-season tests since it's a new regulation, but I guess not.
