Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

That usually happens when you know they have a metric shit ton of evidence that could destroy your nice cushy life, and they're able to make any deal they want with prosecutors. Especially when they've done it before.

...a metric shit ton of evidence that could destroy your nice cushy life...

But it didn't even happen, though.

To think some people will tell you privilege isn't real.

Don't forget, Mark Epstein, Jeffrey's brother said this in an email:

Ask him if Putin has photos of Trump blowing Bubba.

There's clearly some expectation that incriminating photos will end up in the hands of foreign governments.

I'm guessing there's a lot more profit in turning people into agents of foreign governments than there is in directly ruining him.

I'm not holding my breath but it's still possible. So far we've only seen what they've allowed us to see. There may well be worse things that come out eventually.

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 3 points 1 week ago

I don't think there's anything that could come out that would cause his supporters to change their minds at this point.

Which has got to have Maxwell sweating

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah something or someone else has a protecting interest there.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Gee.

Wonder why?

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

You mean Trump going down that escalator and noticing that there were people stupid enough to vote for him changed things? All of a sudden, Trump's skeletons in the closet meant more. He had no way forward if Epstein started talking.

It should have corrected itself with the file release, but Donnie already had too much power to force redactions.

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Jeffrey Epstein died when Trump was president. Just saying.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why didn't he have some "In case I die unexpectedly, release these files" instructions given to a lawyer?

[–] hector@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago

He did, turns out the ones to release those files were convinced not to.

Maxwell has something set up as such, or she wouldn't be around right now. If I had to guess, I'd say Epstein's guy was Israeli intelligence connected, directly or indirectly, the president's fixers, et al, got to them, made a deal to give him up in exchange for extra fealty to Israel and their politicians and projects.

Tartaglione has "a self-confessed hatred of child sex offenders."

Errr...who, except "child sex offenders" (what's wrong with "child-rapist"?), doesn't?

Makes me seriously question the whole thing and the whole source.

[–] blinfabian@feddit.nl 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i had a stroke reading this, but i agree

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Interesting choice of words there.

[–] blinfabian@feddit.nl 2 points 1 week ago

[–] osanna@thebrainbin.org 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

so NOW can we hold Drumpf accountable?

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (3 children)

America: best we can do is absolutely nothing

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Nono, you've got to give Americans more credit as they did do something: they voted him into office again

[–] osanna@thebrainbin.org 3 points 1 week ago

sad, but unfortunately true :/

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How though? It is not going to happen through the justice system, because he controls all of that.

This former cop was moved out of his cell because he was shaking Epstein down for money, according to complaints Epstein made. They weren't friends by any stretch.
