I mean, maybe the bottom picture made perfect sense to Sean?

Yeah, it's called "I was young and broke, and needed the money".

Although, I really do recommend watching Zardoz at least once. It's a trip.

When I first watched it for the ridiculous Sean Connery outfit I became quickly outraged that it's not spoken of more highly in sci-fi film media. It's got some really solid bones.

Zardoz is sci-fi ~~gold~~ platinum.

I'm sure his time on league of extraordinary gentlemen made him never want to do anything even near that kind of movie ever again.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ouch. I liked that movie and always wanted a sequel

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Biggest problem with that movie is it's pacing IMO, shouldve either been an hour longer or gone in with the intention of making it two movies. At the very least they needed to include some pre release specials on the Sci-fi channel going over the history of the characters mostly because while most of the characters come from early modern literature Mina Harker for example is pretty fucken obscure if you haven't consumed more Dracula or it's more direct adaptations.

I have obscure tastes, LoL. Actually I found it most difficult to explain the science and technology background of Nemo to the uninitiated - people just know him as the guy with the submarine but the car and other tech were right in line with the character

Even selective people make bad selections now and then.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can even be selective and make only bad choices. Ask me how I know.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 8 points 1 week ago

Connery even made a Michael Bay movie watchable.

There's not many actors that can say that.

I didn't realize he died during the plague. I thought he died during the Lord of the Rings and my first thought was good thing he didn't take it, for that reason

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You are probably thinking of Michael Gambon who died after the sixth Harry Potter movie.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Michael Gambon took over for Richard Harris, who passed in 2002 after Chamber of Secrets. Michael Gambon did pass, but in 2023, which was long after the book movies.

His nose does not fit the role

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Ian McKellen wore a prosthetic nose for the role.
