Nothing with too many hearty belly laughs, it was abdominal surgery.

I be had two major surgeries, I've only been given oxy for one of them. I took it maybe two days and got off of it as quickly as possible. I hate taking pills, and I didn't feel like I needed it anyway. Pretty much just made me tired.

Was gonna suggest EEAAO but then saw you say "no belly laughs" so that's out

Whatever you do, take pictures, you're not going to remember it after.

Last time I was on them, they told me I could go back to work but I took the week off and went hiking. Mine was dental surgery. I still haven't figured out all the places I went. They probably should have taken my keys, but it wasn't something they warned about for that level of pills back then. Thinking back on it is kinda terrifying.

Be careful, you're not going to be competent to make decisions.

Don't watch anything you want to remember 😂

I don't have any good movie recommendations but I very much enjoyed listening to the album
Avec Laudenum by Stars Of The Lid when I was zonked out on morphine.

Miami Connection.

It's free on YouTube. Thank me later.

When it happened to me, I had a 1000 song countdown of the best songs by Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna.

Not sure I would recommend it...

Tron should be a decent watch, good visuals at least, and nothing too heavy.

Ooh, I really like the old-school animation throwbacks I'm seeing in pictures for The Congress. And it kinda sounds like a Black Mirror episode. Definitely going on the list.

  • Koyaanitsqatsi, etc
  • Eraserhead
  • The Man Who Fell to Earth
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show
[–] sveinek@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My vote goes to Koyaanisqatsi

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm seeing it listed as a musical. Is that right? (I'm not the biggest fan of musicals, is all.)

[–] Reyali@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s more of a documentary with no narration. I replied this above, but I’d recommend Baraka instead. Baraka offers incredible visuals of humanity—the good and the bad—with a stunning soundtrack.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Thank you for the clarification. I did some digging to keep them on my radar. Appreciate these recommendations!

[–] Reyali@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I’d definitely recommend Baraka over Koyaanitsqatsi. Baraka’s my partner’s favorite movie and I’ve watched it at least five times. After the last time he pulled up Koyaanitsqatsi, and I see where he was trying to go with it, but I don’t think he was there yet. However, I think he nailed it with Baraka.

Whenever I’m taking that stuff as prescribed, I’m usually not high, I’m simply not in pain.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Switch off them as soon as possible to avoid getting backed up.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Could even go with a stool softener for the days on them, if need be.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Lost Highway

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Good luck. Those only made me nauseous.

[–] kbal@fedia.io 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Knowing absolutely nothing about you or your taste in movies other than that you're on drugs, my recommendation is Lifeforce (1985).

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I would like to add Brainstorm to this pile.

I've never liked to take opiates of any kind. My go-to for pain is "Poor Man's Percocet:" 2 Ibuprofen (Advil), and 1 Acetaminophen (Tylenol). If the pain is really bad, you can double them, but don't take them more than every 6-8 hours.

The Ibuprofen is metabolized by the kidneys, and the Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver, so neither one overwhelms your organs, and the effect together is far better than the individual effects alone, and I've actually heard multiple doctors say that it approaches the efficacy of an opiate, without the addictive dangers.

I have a very physical job, and at the end of the day, I can sometimes feel almost broken, and this works great for me.
