But his latest book is a warning to the country about the current state of the GOP and its threat to America’s democracy. As much as I welcome converts, I don’t know if I need to hear from someone who was a Republican strategist until Trump came along and said the quiet parts out loud. It’s not like Trump took the party in a new direction policy-wise.
