"An overall reduction of the existing microflora was found (≥50%) at sucralose doses that were lower than the human ADI".
Even so, this is pretty concerning. The article clickbait is annoying though.
I agree. Just clarifying because the title seems to imply DNA for humans ingesting it. Which is what I though when I read the headline.
If sucralose was found the be mutagenic, as the title kind of implies (at least to me), it would be immediately banned in the EU, and eventually the states.
Lots of things harm gut bacteria.
I agree. I originally assumed the same regarding DNA damage based on the title.
Hmm, be careful, the Epoch Times is run by Falun gong, a religious movement which promotes some crazy crazy stuff. They spread a lot of misinformation. They used to be one of the only print papers left in a conservative city I lived in, and they'd run eye popping headlines occasionally.
oh good point, updated the link to point to the actual study
Good call! Thanks :D
I survive on sugar free redbulls. This news just ruined my day.
Might not matter, but this was a story about bacteria damage. Not the rats themselves.
It was a good thing I decided to continue to binge on real junk food then!
