Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

What the fuck am I reading? That last one, wtf. Please tell me that's just some AI slop, and not actually from the files....

But it's not given that it's true either.

Although with a large enough mountain of allegations, you'll be excused to expect that some of them are true. And one, obviously, is too many.

I’m not being nihilistic. I just want the kill shot to stick.

We need to make sure that Trump isn’t sending out fabrications to discredit the whole thing.

They are just sending these things around via email? Without encryption and everything?

[–] Natanael 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes.

Meanwhile intelligence agencies says they want to stop encryption to help them investigate crime...

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Well how else can they nip investigations on their Oligarchic Overlords in the bud? Or stop the working class from organizing?

Because it certainly isn't to stop evil, vile, shit from happening in the world. So far from what we've seen, the legal system works for evil. It protects these deeply rooted child rapists at every turn. So they certainly don't need to worry about encryption.

we need patriarchy fuelled capitalism to end so bad. this is a world of violence and cruel power games, with its main victims being the poor and homeless, children, women and all workers. we need to dismantle this shit.

I hope to see more awareness of this in the close future.

So where are all the pizzagate people nowadays? Why didn't they storm the white house yet?

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Where are all the people saying "release the files"? Are they gonna shift the goal post now and call everything that happens a distraction from further releasing more files? When the US starts a major conflict with Iran tomorrow, are the comments gonna be memes about the Epstein files?

When will they recognize Trump can rape a child live on tv and his base will defend it? What are they waiting for? Why are they not revolting yet?

Those fucking clowns all thought they were privy to legitimate "intel" dossiers. They don't care about news or critical thinking, they're gonna need their commands in short-form reel-loop format just like their grifter führer.

Why would the legal system built for the ultra wealthy, by the ultra wealthy come down on Trump?

Frankly this is proof you cannot use their legal system to bring them down. If we want Justice then it's going to need to be Mob Justice or some other form of Justice that exists outside of their legal system.

[–] ChakraNorris@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago (7 children)

The French had some good ideas for that, back in the day.

We really need to be asking why there were never investigations. How does protection from the FBI work exactly, and how do we stop it from protecting monsters currently?

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Be rich.
Be white.
Be connected.
Don't be a threat to anyone else on the list.

[–] Natanael 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Lobbyists selected by rich people tell politicians who to appoint to lead agencies. These people give directives and can get agents fired for disobeying.

Stopping it means removing "single points of failures" like not having such a powerful hierarchy, in addition to accountability measures (independent inspections, etc)

I can't tell about these newly reported findings since details about when it was first reported isn't clear (only dates are 2025, so Trump's FBI..). However I suspect in the wake of Epstein's death and that pictures of Trump hanging with Epstein all over the internet flooded the FBI with a lot of stuff, much of which probably was fiction analagous to the whole 'pizzagate' thing. In a way, this gives the Trump admin plenty of material to use as cover, they can release a firehose of crackpot grade material from 2020 while perhaps holding back more substantive material, say from 2014 and older, when the signal to noise ratio would be much better.

I'd be particularly interested in material that originated from before 2017 or so, when almost no random folks would be aware of Epstein at all. I wager it's in there as given Trump's nature and the known nature of Epstein's activities, absolutely you know Trump was all in on it. But I can also believe they would prioritize release of crackpot reports that lack credibility even if they are believable narratives.

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Well, actually, about that.
According to DSM-5, which is basically the thing for diagnostic criteria in the US:

Pedophilic disorder

302.2 (F65.4)

  • A. Over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally age 13 years or younger).
  • B. The individual has acted on these sexual urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty.
  • C. The individual is at least age 16 years and at least 5 years older than the child or children in Criterion A.

Note: Do not include an individual in late adolescence involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12- or 13-year-old.

Specify whether:

  • Exclusive type (attracted only to children)
  • Nonexclusive type

Specify if:

  • Sexually attracted to males
  • Sexually attracted to females
  • Sexually attracted to both

Specify if:

  • Limited to incest

So it does generally include 13.

Edit: Improved formatting (trying to copy the book).
