Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Anderson said he had weapons in his bag, and inside the bag was a barbecue fork and a pizza cutter, according to the criminal complaint.

It's because Luigi is of Italian descent.

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I’d much rather fight someone armed with a pizza cutter than nothing at all because, what kind of a stupid ass brings a pizza cutter to a fight? That’s a crappy fighter right there.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Or he is so elite that he is using techniques that you cannot even comprehend.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You know what they say, don't bring Parmesan to a pizza cutter fight.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You cut your parmesan with a pizza cutter?

Depends on the pizza cutter I guess. The rolling ones, for sure, but the long heavy blade ones that you rock to cut the pizza? That could do some damage.

[–] Pieisawesome@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You can sharpen the round ones.

I was bored so I sharpened one of mine a few years ago… honestly it was a very dangerous game changer

The only possible way this scenario could be improved is if the would-be jailbreaker was named Mario

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's gotta be part of a bit. That's about as useless a weapon or tool as you can get.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Slice n dice!

[–] TheCelticPirate@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

you haven't seen what damage it can do!

If you get that pizza cutter rotating at about 1500 RPM it could be quite dangerous.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

Then again, if you manage that, you're probably Donatello from TMNT 🤷

[–] Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

The fool. Everyone knows prison bars are made of overcooked lasagna.

[–] kali_fornication@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

Did he think he was busting him out of Flavortown Jail?

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The barbecue fork is gonna up the severity on this one. Why couldn’t he have just taken a regular fork?

Luigi needs news time, but this is silly.

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

Wrong....

All publicity is good publicity.... especially for our boy Luigi

Impersonating an asshole is a crime now?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I don't know if that's an actual quote, but I read it in Dean's voice regardless.

It's a me Mario I make a you a pizza.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Stories like this are so funny in juxtaposition to what I've been reading. I recently got into Arsène Lupin stories from the early 1900s (praise be royalty free) and it's full of fanciful jail breaks and such. Where's the impersonation of a real person? Where's the accomplices sending messages in code? False fingers full of money? No, we get Mr. Pizza cutter. Clearly not a gentleman burglar.

Also, L.M. is the initials of a big bad in one of the stories, lol.

ooo, have a good place to start? i enjoyed the netflix and have been thinking about binging the anime, but i might have the attention span for the book in a month or so

[–] Nikelui@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6133

The very first book, in all its public domain glory.

Do note that the anime is about Lupin III, which is canonically the grandson of Arsène Lupin.

I’m still waiting for the ~~defence~~ prosecution to fuck this up so that he gets to go home free, and maybe can sue them for slander after.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh god yes that’s what I mean

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Hopefully they fuck up as badly as you just did 😁

[–] yoyoyopo5@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

What a shame, they could have done great things together.

[–] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not saying I condone anything here but.. seems that guy's biggest mistake was going at it alone - i feel like asking the right folks he could have showed up with a whole contingent of "FBI" agents, convincing badges, a cover story, a black van and properly forged transfer documents! 😂

[–] itistime 8 points 2 months ago

A Minnesota man:

“Luigi, come with me, we need you!”

[–] whereIsTamara@lemmy.org 7 points 2 months ago

Is there a place I can donate to his legal fund?

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

I, too, am somewhat of FBI myself.

I'm Fabulous, Beautiful, Intelligent.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 months ago

Is it illegal to say that that person should NOT do that alone?
