That ICE guy totally didn't know how to use the jumper cables. "With help from another community member", pictures with ICE guy standing around watching.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They know but only if it’s on the nipples of a person.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Be sure to connect the grounded nipple first.

woulda been difficult for me to not suggest they get clamped to the agent's testicles.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"Here, buddy. Hold this one in that hand and that one in the other hand. You want to make sure the metal doesn't touch, so you should probably hold on tight to the copper tips so you know they can't touch each other. OK? You have a good grip? Good. I'll connect my leads to the battery now."

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

Then connect 1 to ground and the other to a spark plug lead.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Easy to restrain yourself when you know he doesn't have any.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

I was thinking they’d clamp them to the guys nipples. That or just beat him with them.

[–] Tilgare@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Lmao, I missed that but this is a surprisingly honest way that they phrased this (while trying to infer otherwise).

ICE's feed says that they did this jump start thing, but let's get real. It probably never happened.

These are the same people who lied and said that an officer suffered internal bleeding after he clearly didn't get hit by anything. These are the same people who lied and said that they killed a man who was brandishing a weapon threateningly and their agents feared for their lives despite the fact that he never touched the gun and was disarmed at the time of the shooting.

If ICE says something that benefits themselves, then I have no reason to believe it's true. This is the slant to take whenever you get any information from a source of propaganda.

That's a picture of ICE agents walking near a car with jumper cables connected. Maybe they saw somebody getting jumped and photobombed. Maybe they just used one of their own cars and the entire scene is staged.

Even in the extremely remote possibility that they actually did something to make another person's life easier, they ruined it by taking pictures of it. That would mean that they only helped as PR.

There is no reason to believe when a known propagandist tells you something like this. You should first expect them to lie or distort the truth.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 53 points 2 weeks ago

Tryinng to sell an act of basic human decency as something worthy of applause is not the kind of PR they think it is.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 44 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Just as a PSA, factually.co doesn’t have human fact checkers, it’s all AI. In this instance the headline is correct, but it’s always better to use something written by a person if it’s information you care about.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

that's... going to end well.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Damnit that's me I'm the fucking obit guy, (was), and that job is not available to machine learning. The obit guy calls people and talks to them.

Edit And goes to visit. As a non religious person, I'm into this

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Thank fuck that’s done by humans. The idea of using AI for obituaries sounds intensely disrespectful. Like, “Hey, we loved you, but not enough to actually write something loving about you.”

If somebody uses AI to write mine, I’d go haunting the shit out of whoever made that decision.

[–] nulluser@lemmy.world 43 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Pure propaganda. The driver was likely one of them that radioed for assistance. So they came and, coincidentally, "noticed a man experiencing car trouble," right where he told them he'd be.

Or, the entire thing was staged. Remember, this is the party that invented the concept of "paid crisis actors.".

Liars never seem to figure out that, once we know that they're liars, we don't believe a fucking thing they say, because, why should we?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Like those clips of people pushing a shark back into the ocean off the beach. They never show the part where they hooked it and reeled it out of the ocean. “Look at us saving this shark!”

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I mean... yeah that does happen.

I've caught a shark on accident, and pulled it in so I could remove the hook and release it. I don't find it fun, but it's better than just cutting the line and leaving a barbed piece of metal in the animal.

I also don't generally practice "catch and release" fishing. I fish for food (mostly crappie) because I think catch and release is just being a dick to fish for no reason.

I don't go to the ranch and shoot deer in the leg, get a few pics, then send it onnits way, so why would I do the same to fish?

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 39 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

"ok guys, we staged our good deed for the year, now let's get back to shooting peaceful protesters in the face!"

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 2 weeks ago

"Aw, you guys did good today. Tomorrow you can kill as many innocent American citizens as you like, okay? Who wants ice cream?"

[–] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 2 points 2 weeks ago

Good way to get shot by nazis.

[–] ODuffer@lemmy.world 38 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That guy must have been SO white.

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Whitey McWeissman. They could probably hardly see him with all the snow around.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 27 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Yeah, when any kind of law enforcement shows up anywhere, I just want to get out of there. You never know if his boss just chewed him out, or his wife chewed him out, or his mistress chewed him out, or some citizen chewed him out, etc., but in any case, he's probably pissed off, and looking to take it out on the first person that makes eye contact.

When a cop walks in, your chances of dying of a gunshot wound in the next few minutes just went up 1000%.

No thanks, Imma bounce.

What a nice wholesome interaction with the masked paramilitary kidnap force.

Imagine, if this really happened, this guy didn't know who they were and didn't know anything about ice and was like "I really appreciate you guys who are you guys anyway?"

"We're ice"

"Oh I don't know who that is. What brings you to town?"

"We're here to kidnap men, women and children and put them in cages"

"Uh.."

"Yeah, you hear about that guy who got held down and shot in the back of the head execution style?"

"I did hear something about that. We're you there to help him...?"

"Haha. No, we're the ones that shot him. That's why we wear these masks"

"Oh I thought you had those because it's cold"

"Haha no no no no. It's because we don't want people to be able to identify us and hold us accountable for our crimes."

"Uh...I really gotta go"

"Sure thing buddy. Hey, before you go. You don't happen to know any brown people do you?"

"Nope, sure don't. Gotta go. Byeee!"

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Reminds me of that time an acorn fell on the hood of a police car and they started blasting.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Seriously so fucking hilarious.

“Oh, I’m hit, I’m hit!”

[–] Zomg@piefed.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

Now do it without needing to take pictures.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 2 weeks ago

I would literally refuse their help

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

Listen, if a man beats his wife even once, let alone multiple times, but he also helps her fix her car, he’s still a wife-beating piece of shit.
An abuser is an abuser. It doesn’t matter how nice he is the other times.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Lemme guess, it was a white guy's car, right?

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 13 points 2 weeks ago

32? i would be surprised if the numbers are so low, 32 are the ones we know of...

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

"With help from another community member"??? They don't know how to jump start a car? Who the fuck needs help connecting TWO battery terminals? This is just bizarre, and probably fake anyway.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

Most drivers have no idea where the battery even is.

Armed-and-masked-charm-offensives don't work. You can bring me tea and biscuits while armed and masked, but it's not a lack of tea and biscuits that causes my fear, it's the fact that you're armed and masked.

[–] Deadeyegai@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah.....nice try. They were looking for trouble and didn't find any so then tried to pivot it into a "good-feel" fascist story

[–] boletus 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It is probably a staged photo anyways

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 weeks ago

Lmao the secret police will help you with your car tricky. Or they will disappear you.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

I bet they were planning on kidnapping him and then saw he was white.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago

LOOK at that! ICE Jumpstarting someone's Car AFTER Detaining their Children and stealing the Vehicle! How SWEET <3!

[–] Tilgare@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'll bet they made damn sure they were helping one of THEIRS first, though.

Orphan-crushing machine temporarily used for good, more heartwarming stories at 7

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Join ICE!

Travel to cool new places!

Meet new and interesting people!

Arrest them and Kill them! and then get sent home to hide like a coward!

[–] modus@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I'm going to get a couple of guys together and dress up as ICE agents and hand out free slushies and corn dogs in a pathetic-looking PR damage-control stunt.

[–] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Shakobee is the county seat of Scott County. Guess who won in that county the last three presidential elections.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

That's because the man was another ICE agent

[–] RetroLemmings@retrolemmy.com 4 points 2 weeks ago

They probably stopped to check his papers first, saw he was white, and offered help.

I imagine if it was a latino they would have kidnapped him.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

That’s after they seized the tow truck driver who showed up to give the guy a jump but had a south of the border last name. Photo op time!
