Loved Jon Stewart this week

[–] endless_nameless@lemmy.world 18 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

When will people realize that republicans do not support the first amendment? They support use of force to further their agenda. That's it. Making gun ownership out to be a right wing thing is such a gigantic fuckup.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 7 points 2 hours ago

once fascists get full power, they will attempt to ban it totally throughout the country. mmuch like with russia, last thing putin wants is the populace with firearms.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

Fucking classic

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 29 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

I wish the internet would get over its collective obsession with pointing out conservative double standards. They don't care that they have double standards. In fact its a power move to show that they're above whatever petty moral code everyone else has tied themselves to

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

They've beaten you into submission.

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 3 points 5 hours ago

I'm not beaten, I'm suggesting alternate strategy

[–] freshcow@lemmy.world 12 points 6 hours ago

You're correct, of course. But there are still a certain amount of Republican voters who like to pretend they have principles. Then there are also so-called centrists and politically disengaged folks. Sometimes they need to be reminded exactly who these charlatans are, so there can be no excuse for confusing one side of the political spectrum with the other.

She's not even looking where she's pointing and yet she's got her finger on the trigger.

Weapons handling score 0/10

Also her wrist is bent, which is something that makes me unreasonably angry whenever I see it, whether in real life or in movies/TV.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 18 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Tuxman@sh.itjust.works 15 points 7 hours ago

After all these years I just realized he also has his thumb behind 🤣

That shot is sure gonna look sooo cool… for .5 seconds

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

I have a few tiny guns like that. It would jam on the next shot from limp wristing it. She bought it because it was cute, has no idea how to use it.

For the life of me I cannot see why training requirements violate the 2A.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 hours ago

For the life of me I cannot see why training requirements violate the 2A.

I think in a perfect world, we should have some sort of impartial training. In the world we live in, I wouldn't trust Trump's administration to set the training requirements. I'm sure step 1 would involve turning over your social media accounts.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 7 points 7 hours ago

Not to mention the guy is holding the buttstock under his armpit and he's got his other hand all the way up at the end of the rail guard...

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 4 points 6 hours ago

Any time you interact with a 2A online they will swear to high heaven that they personally keep their guns locked in a childproof vault and make safety priority one.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 46 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Been saying it for years now:

Perfect hypocrites.

Anyone left at this point is a full-on cultist, fully subsumed into the hivemind.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 19 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Hypocrisy is only a failing if you believe in fairness or justice.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 9 points 7 hours ago

That is a disgustingly true observation

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

True, that is actually brandishing, but I don't think anybody really thought that helping a woman off of the ground while never touching or showing off your gun is brandishing.

For conservatives, words don't have meanings anymore. If a word sounds like it might have a negative connotation, then it is a word that they use to describe any opposition. They don't need to bother waiting to see what actually happened. The important thing for conservatives is to say the bad-sounding word first. Nobody has ever held them to account for lying.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

For conservatives, words don’t have meanings anymore.

They never really did, I think what allowed them to start breaking through out of that prison of social pressure was when we all stopped socializing and connecting. They started finding they could get a form of social support in atomized realms, while the rest of us just said "let them stay over there, we can't ban them all, at least there they're contained."

I really want to ask them back in those early days when they were debating banning forums and subreddits related to sexism and racism, if they think "containment" is different from "empowerment" now.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 42 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Yes we all know. Umfortunately the hypocrisy is completely invisible to them, so posts like this are a circlejerk at best.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 16 points 9 hours ago

It’s good to remind others not in the loop why the propaganda is nuts.

But yeah you’re not convincing MAGA losers of this. How an event makes them feel is more important than the facts and consistency it represents.

[–] M137@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Uuuhmmmfortunately

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 65 points 11 hours ago

GOP Keynote speakers for this violent stunt.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 13 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Could never tell if she's twacked out on a lot of adderall or some meth. Probably splitting hairs.

Trump’s rhetoric was similar to that of Los Angeles-based federal prosecutor Bill Essayli, who tweeted over the weekend that, “If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you.”

Have they seen the multiple angles of footage of this?

Man had a phone in one hand and the person he was helping up in the other.

Unless he had a third hand somewhere, I struggle to see where the fucking gun was.

They really be taking the old GOP doctrine to psychopathic levels just to own the Libs.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 30 points 9 hours ago

They’ll put whatever spin they can on this to justify the actions of their gestapo.

Jon Stewart says it best:

“They’re lying. We saw it. And that’s how brazen they lie when they know we’ve seen the truth. That’s how they lie when they know we know. Imagine how they lie when there’s no evidence to contradict them. And maybe that more than anything was why Alex Pretti reall was a threat. Because he was brandishing a weapon, a handheld aluminum, 1080p, 60 FPS, weapon of mass illumination. Because there is nothing more dangerous to a regime predicated on lies than witnesses who capture the truth.”

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 17 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, they have seen the videos. They are lying. They are liars.

[–] Klear@quokk.au 7 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)
[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 10 points 9 hours ago

Besides which, law enforcement is not legally justified in shooting you damn near no matter what you do. A cop is not a court of law. A cop is not a jury and judge. A cop is not an executioner. Their legal jurisdiction extends to getting you in front of a courtroom and nothing else.

Those are the kind of gun owners we don't need.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 hours ago

ammosexuals like those 2 fantasize about shooting people all the time, they literally going into a euphoric state thinking about it.

I'm not from the US and only have a vague understanding of the dynamics on the other side of the pond. But damn would it be funny if of all the things he does this would be his downfall. Like, there's a million reasons not to let that guy near any public office... The pedophilia, the ridicule of disabled people, the dementia, the dismantling of democracy and its institutions, the treatment of women, the lying, you know this list could go on forever. But now there's this one thing he says that any other country on earth regards as a reasonable and sensible thing to enforce, which is "people shouldn't be allowed to carry guns around all the time" and suddenly he has a problem with important voter demographics. Like... this is a problem now? Unlike... *wildly gesturing at everything*...?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Guns are more important than human life in the USA. Don't believe me? We have lost 1.5 million Americans to gun violence in the last thirty years. That is more American citizens than all wars we have fought COMBINED... Crickets

Trump could molest a child that looks like his daughter standing in the middle of Fifth Avenue, pull out a gun, and execute her on live television for all to see and not lose a voter.

Trump mentions something negative about guns and voters threaten to leave his camp. That about sums up the insanity we are dealing with.

She's holding her gun in such a weird way

[–] nomadman@piefed.social 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

They both are. It's clear they have never fired a weapon before. They might shoot at someone, but they're not hitting anything unless by accident. Which is the likely outcome for these chuckleheads.
