Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I yearn for the days when Tiktok was still Chinese spyware, instead of US/Israeli spyware. Leftist agitprop really popped of there for a while.

Remember when Google had the same “glitch” right after the inauguration?

The only way this happens is if there’s custom handling for these queries, and ask why there would be custom handling for things anti Trump?

This is about Israel. They are censoring anti-Israel content. Funny how this isn't mention anywhere. How convenient.

“TikTok in the US” = TrumpTok. Controlled by US oligarchs, so by the regime.

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

The schadenfreude is weak here... The people still on the platform are morons standing behind the "I have nothing to hide" excuse or worse, willfully ignorant of the realities of modern technology. I personally stuggle to find sympathy for those still on it, but will attempt to make efforts to have others uninstall it as it activly tries to invade the privacy of those around its users.

[–] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 11 points 20 hours ago

Its not about sympathy. Its about collective survival. If a large portion of the population is getting their information from a platform that censors the Fascist Takeover, said Fascist Takeover is far more likely to succeed.

There are people using it that give as much of a shit about being politically engaged or active as they did when they didn’t vote in their election.

These people will continue to lap up the dumbing down shit that will be allowed on the platform.

Vine could really make a big comeback right about now, the short attention span generation is cooked and chopped and will just keep using anything that holds their attention, censorship be damned.

Also we saw this coming when it was announced that a trump loyal owner was buying it

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 4 points 18 hours ago

Done been time to delete that app and unplug yourself from social media as much as possible.

Is it really a surprise to people that a largely unregulated and widely used tool would be hijacked by the oppressor? Like did people honestly believe such a valuable communication asset would actually be in our hands and under our control…for free?

Everyone should drop that "platform" like a hot brick. If they have not already.

Remember what a rash the hard right got about being "shadow banned" (LOL) because their posts were not promoted to people that didn't even want to see their hot garbage? The conservatives think they have a right to have their hateful views, anti-scientific nonsense, conspiracy theories, and disinformation not only platformed, but promoted and squeal that they are being "censored" if they don't get this treatment.

If these claims are true, this is the kind of censorship you get in countries like China (ironically) and it's actual censorship, not the kind of "censorship" the butthurt conservative babies cry about. 🤣

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Welcome to the future of free speech. You have it but the communication channels censor it. Say what you like but no one will hear it. Unless of course you quit using that garbage.

[–] Asmodeus_Krang 4 points 20 hours ago

I remember when tik tok was called musically and it was a bunch of preteens doing gross sexually suggestive shit. It was an app for chomos. No way I'd ever have anything associated with that on my phone.

Get off doomscrolling social media.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 3 points 18 hours ago

We are gonna need every platform possible in the upcoming independent media blackout. Forget about productivity and grinding, we need to diversify our communications. We are at war with the ruling class.

"Free Speech"

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

Isn't this the type of stuff that only happens in countries run by dictators...?

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo? What's that?

[–] Chee_Koala@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Wait, wait, i got this one: Its because.... Both Trump and his cronies and everyone in congress not impeaching is a fascist nazi! Points please.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 17 hours ago

California Governor Gavin Newsom said that he will probe whether TikTok is violating state law by censoring content.

“It’s time to investigate,” he wrote in a post to X

Announcing from the nazi table that it's time to investigate the obvious is quintessential 2000s Dem "leadership" 🤦

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

If this is because of the government then this is clearly a 1A issue.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

You can say whatever you want on social media, they don’t control what you see! - Lemmy, complaining about censored w*rds in social media copypasta here.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Are the free speech absolutists hanging out with the gun rights advocates?

Just a bunch of hypocritical cowards.

Can you imagine if Republicans felt targeted by TikTok in a comparable way? Holy shit they'd storm the headquarters if they could find them.
