Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Watch Severance to fix it

Hey ICE guys, you are not cool. You're fat most of the time, have daddy issues and no one likes you. This is soooo fucking stupid. The movies being made about you are that no one can believe idiot assholes like you were given guns.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago

Hey ICE guys

I realized I haven't heard "Hey ICE-holes..." before

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 95 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They really are dumb enough to think the pendulum is never going to swing back the other way.

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Even if it doesn't, it will swing too far and hit them from behind.

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

swing too far and hit them from behind.

Jokes on us, they’re secretly into that shit

[–] lolola@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 2 days ago

I want reparations. Reparations and revenge.

These are tactics to create fear. Otherwise known as terror tactics implemented for ideological reasons. Otherwise known as...

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

These tactics create anger and a resolve.

Just remember whatever tactics they use to create fear will certainly create fear in them.

Responsible governance?

[–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 67 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wonder how they'd feel if people started doing that to their houses? I'm sure Noem would be on the news the very next day condemning those "terrorist threats"

[–] Steve@startrek.website 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Holding a camera is already a terrorist threat for fuck sake

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Punishable by being gassed, beaten, held down, shot, then shot another 9 times to make sure you're dead.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 11 points 2 days ago

Don’t forget slandered and harassment for your surviving family!

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 63 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is very normal and very professional. A legitimate government agency definitely acts this way.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

The army/Marines did this in Vietnam, which is almost certainly where ICE got the idea. So it depends a lot on your definition of "legitimate" but there's precedence for government agencies doing it.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

One of those fascists is going to take a bullet to the head. Whether or not that’s a good idea is up for debate, but in any case they certainly deserve it.

Jesus, these guys just can’t keep it in their pants can they? Why not use something with more plausible deniability like an actual business card? The fact that the administration responded to this with condemnation instead of outright denial and deflection like they normally do is pretty damning.

My theory is that there is no traditional white supremacist presence in blue cities during the recent demonstrations because they’ve all been absorbed into ICE during the department’s sudden and extreme expansion. What are ICE’s new hiring practices? What vetting is done to hire these new federal agents? Where is all this money going exactly? How can we actually know any of this during one of the most opaque administrations in history?

As events play out, look for more blatant evidence of a white nationalist paramilitary presence in ICE.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What are ICE’s new hiring practices? What vetting is done to hire these new federal agents?

Judging by recent reporting, they are hiring anyone shitty enough to be willing to join ICE. That's pretty much the only requirement.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 2 points 13 hours ago

Including an anti-ice journalist! That's hoe shite their vetting is.

[–] decapitae@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago

Going to have to defund republicans since they won't touch ICE

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

And this doesn't scream criminal thugs with malicious intent?

This is insanity that fascism is basically going rampant across this country. Minorities are being killed like animals, and at this point it wouldn't be long till ICE brings in the gas chambers as a weapon for "wokeness".

This should remain as a call, evil-fascists should be put in their place, or else more people will die.

He noted that the ace of spades has a long history as a tool of intimidation, including its use by white supremacist groups meant to demean people of color.

I'm not doubting this story, but I've never heard of Ace of Spades association. It would have been nice if the article included more information to elaborate.

I had to click through to the Voces Unidas blog post, which then had a link to a HistoryNet page about it.

Sidenote: the link from VU includes a UTM tracking code that indicates the article was written with the help of ChatGPT. I'm not sure exactly what to do with that, but it felt worth noting.

The HistoryNet page says that US soldiers in Vietnam would leave Ace of Spade cards behind because the symbol was considered a mark of bad luck to the Vietnamese.

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

A "spade" is also an old timey but still in use racial slur.

ICE leaving a custom calling card that references something meant to terrorize the Vietnamese during a war and is also a reference to American racism isn't just a random oopsy. The history wrapped in that that specific symbol was very intentionally used here.
