Edit: this post is lifting my spirits

Only time ive ever used a pallet doly was for moving pallets of liquor around a restaurant, so that works for me!

It was hella dumb that they only had ONE person certified to use the fork lift or powered jacks when I worked at Walmart. I literally came to that job from another job where I was a forklift operator, but they had their own certification program and never wanted to certify anyone.

Those fucking milk pallets were the heaviest fucking things coming into that store, and the forklift dude was in CAP2, not Fresh, so we had to manually haul those fuckers to the fridge with janky ass non-powered pallet jacks. 😬

Never understood this. It seems like more of an insurance risk for a company to say, "no no, we provide our own certificate training here". Now when someone fucks up they can say "I was operating the lift following Wal-Mart's training protocols" and they have to show their shit is proper rather than just pointing the finger at OSHA or whoever.

Don't talk to me or my son ever again

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Van driver shows up.

"Hey do you guys have a dock or a ramp?"

The pallet jack is offered as a sacrificial lamb.

The van driver curses and groans and sadly takes the offered pallet jack.

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, the jack was on the lift because we needed to unload a 16 wheeler with crates in the back.

Now is the time to strike while the iron is hot.

Tomorrow,

"Hey boss, after unloading that truck yesterday with the pallet jack, my back is really sore. If it doesn't ease up I might need to go to the doctor today."

Next safety meeting/safety suggestion box in a week or two.

"I really think the company should invest in electric pallet jacks. They are not that expensive and will cut down on potential lower back injuries."

Does anyone know fork to fork?

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Germans call it Ameise (ant), Czechs call it ještěrka (lizard)... Any other languages with animal names for these?

[–] BaroqueInMind@piefed.social 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The Elves call it Ered El-galad (ascending starlight mountain). The Orcs call it Sharku Grom (old man cradle).

[–] justsomeguy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I was there 3000 years ago. I was there the day the strength of fork lifts failed.

[–] X@piefed.world 6 points 1 day ago

“Honey, you’ve carried me over the threshold, you can put me down now…”

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This made me laugh real loud :)

That's what I thought when I took the picture months ago. I just saw it in my phone again and decided to post it, glad it's making some people laugh
