Not surprising. They've cancelled a bunch of local elections to postpone the embarrassment of losing ground to the Greens and Reform, makes sense they'd treat party democracy the same.

I know you’ll hate this. But I don’t get why you want to be part of a party if your aim is to take its leader down. And potentially take the party down at the next election. The first it’s won in decades
Just go join another party. Burnham isn’t going to win a general election. Leave Labour in the hands of those who can win elections so we don’t suffer endless Tory and Reform rule.
I think you are missing the big point that there is not much difference between the tories and labour. There is, apparently, no alternative and this is one of the reasons that the country is abandoning the centre ground and polarising.
A lame duck polling as bad as Starmer is, obstinately using the levels of party bureaucracy to hold back any alternative is only going to make a reform Government increasingly likely.
I always remember that when given a choice between Boris and Corbyn the country manifestly chose Boris.
Burnham can’t win in the UK. He just can’t. Sorry.
There’s enough difference between Starmer and Farage for me. If you want to pitch a different party to the public go do so. That’s what Farage has done to the conservatives so it can be done. Stop trying to take Labour down from within.

The preference is Competent Centre Right > Competent Centre Left > Far Right > Far Left in that order.
Burnham vs Farage. Farage wins. Starmer vs Farage. Starmer wins. Pick your poison.
The real threat to Labour is the Conservative Party getting its shit together. And reputation washing Farage into a Competent Centre Right leader.
It seems like you see politics as a game of Rock Paper Scissors, but it's not as simple as that.
Will Starmer automatically win against Farage? There's certainly no evidence to suggest that so far.
I wouldn't even say Burnham is particularly left wing; maybe against Farage but that's not saying much.
Not that being left wing is inherently a vote loser. A lot of political popularity is down to personality, which Starmer doesn't have but Burnham does (in comparison).

85% of the UK isn't London, much of which prefer a Manc accent to a London one.
I think you're fighting the last battle. The world isn't the same as it was.
Starmer will take the party down at the next election. His polling is worse than Sunak, even worse than Truss. In fact his polling is the worst of any PM on record.
If Labour want to be in government next term, they must replace Starmer with time to spare to allow the successor to get some policies through. That means a change of leader this year or next.
