Why bother having an alliance if one of the key signatories can just decide that they don't feel like being an ally anymore.
This will haunt the US for decades to come. Just like that unreliable friend, they'll slowly get invited to fewer and fewer parties until eventually they're sitting there alone wondering why nobody gives a shit about them anymore.
