Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

Lies on top on lies
Every day I'm glad I don't have any Trump cultists in my circle. The everyone is 12 theory continues.
More like everyone is 92 because most kids today are smarter then this.
I bet if you showed this case, without political context to a class none would laugh and all would agree its wrong for officials to do this.
I wonder how many judges will have the courage to sanction the government for this conduct... If POTUS lies or falsifies documents, throw the charges out already. We can't have a tainted jury.
And that won't stop Mr. Orange. But at least it will give some relief to people who are harassed by him.
The judicial system is stacked with Trump supporters.
The White House has confirmed that it posted a fake arrest image of a Minnesota protester to its official X account Thursday.
Uuuhhh, by default you should always assume that if information comes from the whitehouse, that it's modified, faked, or whatever to make the USA look better.
NEVER trust anything coming from the US whitehouse (or it's congress, or just anything from the US government)
That was good advice ten years ago, now it's just rule #1, because literally EVERYTHING they say now is a lie. Trump breathes lies, he couldn't stop lying if he wanted to I guess because I literally have a hard time hearing or seeing anything from him that isn't a complete and outrageous lie. Same goes for his ass kissing cronies.
It’s always inspiring to see the bottomless well of incompetence, absurdity, and stupidity that makes up the entirety of this white house.
Welcome to the USA, deepfakes are not only legal but encouraged.
This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs -- to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct, nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary.

What's the rule for defamation or misrepresentation here? This feels like something you should be able to use for evidence of malicious prosecution.
The US is so cooked.
