Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

You mean like some military bases and consulates?

[–] trashboat@piefed.social 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think he means the parts where he can drill for oil

[–] nodiratime@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Wouldn't put it past him do combine the two. "De decided that this is a great place for a base, which happens to be just above ..."

He made this deal with the NATO secretary general Mark Rutte, who has literally no authority to give anything away on behalf of Denmark or Greenland.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

This might be like when Canada “gave” him the existing trade deal they had in place.

Because he doesn’t actually know the situation on the ground anything that sounds like a concession is a win to him.

I'd put good money that he doesn't understand the metric system. Just give him the measurements in cm so it's a big number and he'll be the proud owner of approximately half a park bench.

And if that's not enough for him, millimeters! Also it's probably in area, not length, so the numbers increase exponentially

Hopefully this is the time that appeasement really works.

::spoilers::

It won't

So when Trump feels like he needs another distraction from the Epstein files or just decides to throw a narcissistic hissy fit and starts attacking NATO again will they just keep giving him more of Greenland?

1 m^2 at a time. And if sane government ever comes back to the US, the whole thing can be undone on day one.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

That's one thing I'd love to see - every single thing that Donvict cares most about - that he would live to see a blue wave immediately reverse, with a lot of fanfare, on DAY ONE.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Don't we already have the ability to put military bases on it? I don't even understand the attempts at sanewashing this shit and making it about somehow being strategic for "us".

This just seems to be about dimbulb donnie and his ego wanting a "legacy" via adding more territory. He's probably such a moron that he doesn't realize the Mercator projection skews things as well...

It is over mineral rights) oil and other commodities. If it was honestly about safety or security it would be a moot point because of nato and other treaties that allow what ever defense systems and bases are needed. It is the same thing in Venezuela. If he does anything it is about money, or getting people to stop paying attention to something else. When the news cycle is 24hr it is hard to stay on topic if there is always a new crazy thing going on.

A dumpster in Nuuk is now sovereign territory of the United States of Donald.

My buddy says that other countries like China and the EU countries are threatening to cash out those u.s bonds and other Treasury securities they have.

And that's why trump keeps talking about the interest rates. He ain't talking about peoples credit card interest rates. Hes talking about those Treasury securities rates.

And anyway. If the EU or china decides to cash those out. It will probably bankrupt the u.s.

I'm not very knowledgeable about this topic. I'm just passing on what my buddy told me. It sounded plausible.
