One of today's (unlucky) 10,000 who has never read that one poem. They may come first for somebody you, a fucking bigot, don't like, but later they're going to come for you, too.
I swear to god, didn't even have to read it to know that this person owns a business.
The only "normal" people the media interviews anymore are small business owners.
If you don't a own a startup, have a registered LLC, or aren't a published author then you just aren't a person.
Do you understand what your country is yet? Because "citizens" are chattel and only money makers matter to those in power.
Early humans must've spent a lot of time policing one another's mating habits and resource consumption, seeing as what effective tools those are at manipulating idiots today.

Why do people harbor hatred for people living their own life. It astonishes me to no end
Insecurity. They need someone to view as less than so they can seem better by comparison. It's not just religion.
Usually... a religious background. While most major religions do talk about inclusivity and helping others... They're also filled with stories and sometimes even instructions of how to destroy those that don't believe the same way.
There are religious leaders that push agendas of hatred because they have the power to do so and they're harbor that in their own heart, surrounding themselves with religion as a shield.

These stories often hit me with a pang of pity at first. Poor, dumb, moronic idiots, I just want to hug them and pat them on the head like the snotnosed children they are.
But as you pointed out, they were roped in to this with promises of cruelty toward others. It's hard to muster up empathy for that.
