Hey there,

Looking for a great scanner printer combo that will allow me to scan documents fast and push them to my homeserver minipc via FTP. Since i need to print something every now and then, id prefer a combo over a dedicated scanner. My apartment is rather small, so i dont want to go for a full "office style" printer either. Do any of you have good reccomendations? :)

Thanks!!

You can scan documents with the camera of your phone, no scanner needed. It’s the smallest option there is. Other than that, the printing part should matter more to you than the scanning part. Depending on what you want to print and how often and in what quality. I had my fair share of printer for home use but I would never go back to anything but a HP LasetJet MFP (printer, scanner), for a few simple reasons: Airprint, you can print from any device. It’s a laster printer, so very good colour quality. The cartridges last for years before they run out of toner. It can scan and print double sided. Costs less than 400$, but for your case it is probably too big.

Nearly all current printer companies have a model with these properties. The keyword is laser printer. You just need to decide if you need color or can deal with black and white only. My Brother MFC L-2710DW for example suits me well in a similar fashion. It’s network enabled, prints Duplex, we haven’t changed the cartridge in years etc. for below 200$. Just no duplex scan and only b&w. I agree with using the phone for scanning. iOS has inbuilt functionality, don’t know about android.
