a Minnesota shutdown?
Fuck that, I'm not doing shit on January 23rd and I'm nowhere near MN -- just because it didn't happen in my state doesn't mean it's not coming to my state someday.
The Haywood Journal is an independent newspaper and forum dedicated to reporting on life, work, and communities. We publish original reporting, firsthand accounts, interviews, and documented observations focused on workers, labor conditions, rights, public policy, and the everyday realities that shape working lives.
Our aim is straightforward: to record what is happening, verify what can be verified, and present it clearly, without press releases, corporate framing, or partisan spin.
This forum exists to support that mission.
We value accuracy, sourcing, and good faith participation. This is a space for sharing information that often goes unnoticed, and keeping a public record of how power, work, and daily life intersect.

You can just not go to work any day you like.
Nobody is stopping you?
I already work the minimum I can to just afford my bills and food and what few luxuries I allow myself doing gig work right now. The 23rd is a Friday, where I'd generally make good money doing gig work, as I generally don't bother with it Monday through Thursday.
to expand on what I'm saying: people should make an effort to push for solidarity with Minnesota and not work or go out on the 23rd no matter where they live. Renee Good could've been your mother, your sister, your daughter. while a country-wide general strike is an admittedly lofty idea to aspire to, I don't think there's anyone who's seen pictures of the interior of that car and not thought of someone they know and love in the drivers seat. Save for the heartless MAGAs who think the leopards never get hungry, but you know what I mean. Normal people.
Good luck.
