They're not suggesting they have to comply, just everyone else.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Isn't conservatism about keeping things the same? What you said sounds more like normal human groupism/corruption

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Keep things the same like queer people in the closet, women in the kitchen, and people of color in poverty. Not like 1950s top marginal tax rates.

These days what it boils down to is an nostalgia for suffering of a bygone era.

It's a pretense that is used when it is convenient.

Of course, progress is good, keeping things the same is bad as things were bad in the past. Just two bad things can be two different bad things, and I think this is a case were it is.

I can't make any sense of your response.

Sometimes, political ideologies aren't the same thing as the word used to name them would suggest.

The "trick" is conservatives want to preserve a past that didn't exist, they've been told fairytales

bear in mind that the US political parties based swapped names within living memory, and anyone can say they're anything and do anything. I can say I'm not racist and be racist, I can say I'm a bad person while being a Saint

There were some fake ICE already (yes, even more fake) abducting people. What if they abducted a billiionaire for a change?

[–] LeninsOvaries@lemmy.cafe 10 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Catch and release a few rich white people and watch ICE suddenly become unpopular with the bourgeois

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago

Why release? Once you get to billionaire status, all the other billionaires know who you are. Catch and disappear. Betcha it only takes one or two for them to melt ice.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

I heard it's the right season. Don't need to release!

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Seems there was an asterisk in the original document that faded and is no longer visible.

Obligatory response for whenever you find takes like these from ICE apologists:

Wont somebody rid me of these meddling fascists?
