Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Where's the fucking Epstein files?

[–] BossDj@piefed.social 80 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Trump could get on the mic and say he raped a bunch of kids and his cult would approve and value his honesty. A handful of right wing commentators are already testing the waters with "there's a difference between older kids and really young ones" kind of talk.

Megyn Kelly talking about barely legal 15 year olds (not legal) who could pass for much younger.

Totally normal thing to be saying.

More like Megyn R. Kelly, amirite....

There's a difference between armed robbery and unarmed robbery but both are still illegal and immoral

What is with the Sasha Riley stuff? I keep seeing murmurings of it, but nothing verifiable.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Speaking solely for myself, there seems to be a lot of corroborating circumstantial evidence, times and places and dates that check out for people looking into it, but even if it's 100% true I don't think it's ever going to be verifiable.

That said, I know a survivor, I know what their recollections tend to sound like and why, and to me Sascha Riley's recordings do have the ring of truth to them, very much so. This is one of those things where people need to decide for themselves, but I do believe that he personally believes what he says, and that there is a likelihood that what he says is largely true in reality.

This is what the "don't react" people don't understand.

If he's gonna declare martial law and take over blue states to cancel their elections; it doesn't matter if we react or not, they're doing it anyways.

ICE is murdering people left and right, and trump is using the fact that protesters are being shot and killed as justification.

People think MLK strategy alone will work, but he was very vocal that it wouldn't have without Malcolm making the only other option violence. Passisive resistance doesn't work when the other option for the abusuers is "just keep abusing me bro, it's cool".

Passive resistance only works when the only two options are:

  1. Shit gets better peacefully

  2. Shit gets better violently

We can't let them the have the option of:

  1. Shit stays the same

They want this escalation, violence just make more violence. Portalad shows how pacific protests are efficient.

But you're preventing the obligatory comment about paywalls!

The Minneapolis mayor, Jacob Frey, put the blame for the chaos in his city on Wednesday squarely at the feet of Trump. “I’ve seen conduct from ICE that is disgusting and intolerable,” he said, urging protesters to go home. “We cannot counter Donald Trump’s chaos with more chaos … Anyone who is taking the bait tonight, stop,” he said. “You are not helping the undocumented immigrants in our city.”

The protesters are doing a hell of a lot more to help the immigrants than you are, Mr. Mayor.

Seriously, fuck that! He couldn’t be more wrong here. Rolling over and complying ain’t the answer because they’re just gonna keep moving those goalposts until all of our rights are gone.
