Trump also told the Times that he isn’t opposed to using nuclear force if he “needed it” to take over the Arctic island but that “it might upset NATO," since the island is a self-governing territory of NATO member country Denmark.

Could we mint him an NFT?

If it doesn't scare the shit out of you that this narcissistic psychopath just casually mentions that he would like to drop nukes, then it should

We've been on the brink of nuclear annihilation multiple times but always escaped fate because there were calm cool smart heads that intervened. Those heads are gone, it's now all removed narcissists.

This asshole is just casually blabbing about burning down the entire world, and there ain't shit we can do to stop or even change this.

The two times we evaded nuclear hellfire were in the 60s and 80s. And in both those cases it was the Soviets who kept their cool and realized that it was a technical error that gave a false positive.

I don't think anyone in either government is cool enough to do that today.

Removed narcissists?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Mostly, those calm cool smart heads were decidedly not the politicians.

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Remember, Stephen Miller directly and Peter Thiel less directly are likely driving this. Mango is just their senile puppet/mouthpiece/fall guy. Not that it makes it any less serious.

[–] HippyTed@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

It is worrying how unhinged Thiel is becoming, it does look like he is fishing with various ideas to start a cult for his own glory. Dude needs to just chill out for a bit.

Everyone gotta understand this.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Those Epstein files must be insane.

[–] wavebeam@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Surely the intelligence agencies at work in sane countries are considering assassination operations, right? Isn’t this like the most worthy reason to attempt such a thing, threat of global annihilation?

[–] murvel@feddit.nu 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does MI6 have a plan to assassinate Trump? It would surprise me if they don't. Plan for all contingensies. But from plan to actual operation is a continental leap.

Chinese and Russian agents keep intercepting them because they wanna see him do it

Emotional support colonialism

Is there another kind?

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 34 points 2 days ago

It's his emotional support island.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 69 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Trump also told the Times that he isn’t opposed to using nuclear force if he “needed it” to take over the Arctic island but that “it might upset NATO,"

Ummm... what? Did the media just sane wash this headline? Trump is ok with nuking his way into owning Greenland and we're just all ok with that?

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago

The U.S. president told the paper in an article published on Jan. 8 that just "one thing" stands in the way of him and world dominance. "My own morality. My own mind," he said. "It’s the only thing that can stop me.”

Well, that's very reassuring

[–] kevin2107@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

he wants to be known as the president that took greenland for the history books

That's still pretty batshit for a statement that's been sane-washed.

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 148 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Seeing him hang from the neck is psychologically important to me, but I guess we can't always get what we want.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 38 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Honestly, as long as we leave him up, I'm willing to settle for any body part.

*He is the rapist.

Correct.

I think the thing people didn't put together in 2016 his "grab them by the pussy" comment was about children in his beauty pageants.

All about ego. He has nothing else except to be the biggest bully he can be.

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

He's like 70% ego (10% hairspray, 10% bronzer and 10% hamberder)

So psychologically, is it important to maintain his ego.

It's a health decision

Somebody ought to sit him down and explain the Mercator projection to him.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's way too advanced for a guy who can barely read or write.

What's important for him psychologically, and the whole damn world, is that he takes his meds.

The tiny handed orange toddler "I WANT IT. I WANTS IT!!! WAHHHH. GIVE ME. WAHHH"

Then goes off to think about all those little children he raped with his bestie Jeffery Epstein.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

My psychiatrist gave me a prescription for an emotional support Greenland, legally you aren’t even allowed to ask me about it other than if it’s an emotional support Greenland, which it is.

Dude, it would 100% be the end of NATO

Would not be the first time that the USA dropped nuclear bombs on Greenland

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968_Thule_Air_Base_B-52_crash

Although last time they covered it up and caused many workers to die later on due to nuclear exposure

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Uhhh....the coverup worked. I'm 42, and this is the first I've ever heard that we nuked Greenland. I feel like that SHOULD be common knowledge, but I'm willing to bet if I ask 100 random people, 0 will think I'm telling the truth if I told them we've nuked Greenland before.

[–] pillowtags@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I mean, it’s not accurate to say we nuked them, as no nuclear detonation occurred. We did contaminate the area with radiation and likely harmed the Danish workers assisting in the cleanup.

Honestly a little impressed he's able to use the word 'psychologically'. That's a lot of syllables.

I emailed my senators and my rep to tell them to do fucking SOMETHING about this sabre rattling. Write up some fucking legislation saying that the US cannot invade NATO nations, at the fucking minimum.

Will they listen? Take three guesses, first two don't count.
