I'm terrible at drawing, so I in fact cannot.

But I'll take this as an opportunity to experiment.

Drawing of a a field of flowers, with a mountain partially covered in snow in the background. A winding road goes along the mountain through a forest and passes a house. At the foot of the mountain is a large body of water with some birds flying above the shore. The sun is partially covered by the clouds and is shining its light on where the road first comes to this side of the mountain.

[–] BitsAndBites@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This looks like it might be the bottom of the mountain in the old game SkiFree

I honestly can't. They tell me drawing, like playing an instrument, just takes patience and time. I can play multiple instruments, but my drawing skills have been the same since I was about 8.

I once drew a picture of Judge Dredd, that came out half-decent when I was 12. However it was mostly traced and took me hours.

Username does not bear out in reality.

I'm the same as you, haven't really improved at drawing since I was a little kid. But this is Lemmy, not Reddit. People here aren't looking for perfection, your drawing skills are more than enough for this thread.

It's of course fine to not want to draw something, but don't hold back just because you think your skills aren't good enough.

[–] redwattlebird@lemmings.world 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You're fine. Just let the pencil wander and see what comes out!

pencil-drawn smiling crazy pillow with swords for arms that have gun barrels sticking out. Also a halo above the head, and sun-rays beaming down.

Arg....im so lame. I love Lemmy and want to respond with a doodle, but im lousy at this. Any advice would be appreciated....

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 10 points 20 hours ago

Just scrawl something. Anything. Doesn't really matter and that is the point. It is just about stating that you can do something, by yourself. Do a tetris like shape. Write something and add some unnecessary curves or angles to each letter. Don't care about the what. Care about the trying.

[–] paranoid@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

There was a subreddit that I really miss called something like "whatsthiscookiecutter", where people would post a cookie cutter they couldn't figure out. People would create all sorts of weird, random, and funny drawings.
