Why do you need a Geiger counter? It looks like a cool device, but why is it EDC?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 41 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm a huge radiation nerd and just need to measure every orange tile and green glass that I stumble across.

[–] mosspiglet@discuss.online 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That sounds fun. Now I want one, too.

Beware! That has been one of the deepest rabbit holes since a few years for me ;)

How do you use your Flipper Zero?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 39 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)
  • As a remote for some devices and garage doors
  • I'm a bit of a data hoarder, so I record various radio comms, NFC tags, infrared... I find in the wild
  • For field microcontroller programming
  • Sometimes as a clicker during presentations
  • I built a SCD30 extension board, so I sometimes use it to monitor the CO2 concentration in rooms

And a bag of cocaine! Or maybe that's the gloves, lol.

[–] HamsterRage@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

I thought that was part of "some meds".

Nail clippers and a file. And bandaids. And really really old rock hard gum pack.

Oh and 3-6 half uses chapstick tubes.

Hello fellow Radiacode user! What's your most interesting find to date?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Probably when I measured >3kCPS in a train. Turned out it was a very spicy TC-99m patient.

Yours?

[–] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

~8k CPS at the market, I'm fairly confident it was a radiation therapy patient as well. Did not expect it to be so high! Also got some interesting readings from an old "home science kit" from the 60s.

What pen is that? Also who are you fucking with using that flipper zero?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

Just a regular ball pen I got for free :) I explained my use cases for the flipper in another comment.

That is a nicely thought-out EDC. A lot of it would be useful day-to-day, but it also covers several emergency situations.

[–] majoru@feddit.org 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Thanks! I'm rather new to the game and still optimizing. But some of the things already have been very useful.

I'd add one of those mylar thermal blankets as well, it can mean the difference between life and death in some situations where a person is suffering from shock and can't regulate their own temperature.

[–] majoru@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

Never thought of that. Added to the backlog for sure!

Data blocker for charging in public transport :D

[–] e8CArkcAuLE@piefed.social 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

did you buy it or made it yourself?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago

It was a promotional gift from some meetup.

Thank you for the post. Didn't know a Radiaccode as a thing.

[–] shnizmuffin@lemmy.inbutts.lol 3 points 3 days ago

You're missing the 4oz thermos filled with scotch and the LEGO spudger.

[–] ClassifiedPancake@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nice setup! What multitool is that?

[–] majoru@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thanks, interesting

Your edc looks about 90% like mine. Fun. Minus flipper and deodorant. Add some lockpicks, a laptop and one of those ultra small extra wicking towels for surprise showers at work.

[–] Waraugh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I got that same flashlight, it is my favorite!

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago

Same. Huge bang for the buck.
