I genuinely do not understand what the complaint is. If people are interested in non US things, please, by all means go discuss those things, but please don’t act like it’s weird how it is now.

It's impossible because Trump keeps doing things it can still be 3:00 in the morning over there and he'll do something. All Europe seems to have is the Germans, and they keep posting in their weird secret language.

Alright then. I have not been following much, ironically. I think America is of course, trying to meddle in our oil refinery deal, after putting sanctions on our refinery (which was partially owned by Russia).
I am secretly very happy about the refinery problems...anyway, it starts work again 23th January.
There were warnings that we would not be able to recieve pay on our credit cards (no transfers) or something like that as well.
Caused me to withdraw all my cash.

My All Feed is basically empty now or consists of posts with zero or very few comments. I love the filter option, but it has also made it quite clear what is being pushed the most on Lemmy.
How do I set that up?
I'm still quite new to Lemmy. I still don't quite get how it all works, haha. I'm using the Thunder app (don't ask me why), and when I go to settings it's the second option I'm presented with. Then you just add keywords for the things you'd like to filter out.
Yeah people have been talking about having less and less activity on Lemmy.
IMO it’s because of the content. The platform works flawlessly but unfortunately lemmy came about during a time that politics is being so pervasive.
It might be a general trend. I’m willing to bet all social media is slowly dying but the for profits inject bots to keep their numbers up.
Yeah just some of the most important world events going on. Odd how people talk about that stuff.

Hungarian here, I still couldn't convince my leftist friends in facebook group chats to leave that garbage site... Many of them are even IT professionals.
Unfortunately it became big because it is more convenient than having several separate tools for using the Internet.
Just take a look at the large communities on Lemmy:
- News: American
- Politics: American
- Memes: American AND political
I could not find any European meme community at all, and if there was one, I have a hunch it would be flooded with things Trump said or Musk said or whatever is new on Netflix. I guess news about the Circular Economy or the microplastics regulation, being rolled out slowly and in phases, though absolutely affecting EUropeans' everyday lives, are just not quite as entertaining from an existentialist POV.
You can use an app that has a filter setting. I filter out every post containing words like trump and musk, as well as stupid articles with words like slammed. Makes a huge difference
