I had to delete my Canadian friends off my social media because they were both rabid pro facist Trump supporters. The last one was celebrating the annexation of Venezuela. It was weird AF

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, people get fedfacebooks and YouTube algorithms. I have two people, BC and Ontario, that I had to stop taking to.

One believes all the right conspiracy stuff and believes the biggest issue is rainbows on sidewalks, etc. The other has two daughters and proclaimed feminist, transrights person, but wanted to move to Texas, where they had just removed women's rights. The can't see the contradiction for the "I have freedom and prosperity in the USA"

Let me take a wild guess where in Canada they're from...

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

She lives in BC the other guy was in Ontario

[–] Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 hours ago

Well, I was wrong, but not surprised

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

Oh, look, there are dumb people in Canada too.

[–] sik0fewl@piefed.ca 18 points 15 hours ago

Not before the Beaverton wrote an article on it.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 11 points 16 hours ago

"Verified on Twitter", check.

So apparently he thinks murder is appropriate for different political ideologies?

Interesting. That might be a poor career decision.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 105 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Why the fuck would you write that?

[–] SamuelRJankis@sh.itjust.works 105 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's a piece of shit.

But also to signal that he's on a specific side. People would call these dog whistles but I think it's bit to overt for that.

This is what the right is being fed, the stupid ones believe it. Browse through these memes, its' kind of insane what they're shitting out and people are falling for it:

[–] moopet@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 hours ago

Wow, everything on that site is abhorrent.

[–] ellypony@lemmy.world 14 points 14 hours ago

Everything on that page is so ridiculously unfunny it almost loops back around to being ironically hilarious. Its mostly just sad.

[–] edible_funk@sh.itjust.works 20 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus fuck that site is a nazi hellhole. Every fascist sympathizer needs a violent death.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 hours ago

It's not just that site, all of the meme sites have a way too big percentage of nazis and POS propaganda.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 30 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I saw that a little while ago and have started dumping leftist memes there as well. Every one hovers at 60-70% downvoted. I can only hope one or two magats see it and have pause for thought for 5 seconds.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

Doing the lord's work I see.

I can't believe we pay for people to post this stuff.

Postmedia Tells Shareholders $35 Million in Federal Government Handouts is Now a β€˜Key Pillar’ of Its Business Strategy

Foreign media should really be labeled

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 4 points 10 hours ago

Foreign media shouldn't be getting a single cent of government support.

[–] ZombieCyborgFromOuterSpace@piefed.ca 50 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Consider any Postmedia source to be a fascist mouthpiece and it's reporters as fascists.

Same with Rebel Media.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 7 points 17 hours ago

Well, obviously Rebel Media, but also yes to Postmedia too.

That ad desc, lol

"Your ad isn't ready for you yet, but don't worry, you can read an article while you wait."

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ads are blocked, so that's the placeholder, or whatever. It's been 30 years since I've seen ads, for the most part.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

My brother in Christ.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago

Not surprising since the site also support the genocide in Gaza

[–] BurgerBaron@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Dang it's almost like letting your enemies own our home turf news media is a bad idea or something...

Nah, that's impossible.

  • Liberals continuing to enable Harper's legacy.
[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

I don't see where Liberal Party members enable the foreign ownership of our media by direct action.

Mr Harper - he who first sold our resource rights to a foreign nation with a chequered relationship - I think wasn't with the Liberals.

[–] BurgerBaron@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

I do, by their inaction. Ratchet Effect.

[–] fourish@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Needs to be a blanket ban on all US social media here. I’d totally be all for it.

Even better, create a new social media system where you need to be registered with your real name through ID so you’re personally accountable for anything you post.
