I just skimmed my past comments and I noticed I typo a lot. Like probably at least 1 typo every few comments.

Then again I use my phone often so its hard to type, since I do not use autocorrect (don't trust autocorrect)

Three times a day (makes the docyor go away)

[–] Jagarico@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Not offer, but I'm terible at spelling.

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I have an iPhone — does that count? The keyboard is way worse on my 16 Pro Max (2024) than the one on my Galaxy S10 (2019).

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I hate iPhone keyboards so much. It's like they actually hate me. It's almost enough to make me use voice to text for everything. But I can't make my brain and mouth work at the same time.

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 9 hours ago

Voice to text is actually pretty good! I use it in short bursts, like if I want to send a text or something, it works very well. For any kind of long form typing though, I don't even think about it.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

My boomer mom and all her friends have iPhones. They all typo. They all complain about the keyboard. She's given up now, since she's sundowning hard and life for her is just too short. She vomits some letter chowder and we eventually figure it out.

Wasnt apple supposed to be a pro-people best-UX utopia?

(Also, S10 gang represent)

[–] Klear@quokk.au 1 points 17 hours ago

More and more. It actually worries me a bit.

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 17 hours ago

Every single time I type something. That doesn't mean I don't see them before posting.

[–] disregardable@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Extremely common. I got into this unfortunate habit of hitting post and then editing typos afterward, and I think it increased the amount I do it by a lot.

[–] aloofPenguin@piefed.world 2 points 1 day ago

Same here. I mostly type on my phone alot. So autocorrect here is a lifesaver, either that or I will type slower/ with one thumb.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Same, I struggle with posting before reading on the phone especially. My confidence despite only being 10% as accurate on the phone is exactly the same after finishing typing on the phone.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Quote a few, I catch most.

About twice a comment on my phone and about once every 5 comments on the computer.

Listen here you little shit...

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

It's all typos all the way down. I was actually trying to type a totally different comment.

[–] kelpie_returns@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

All day every day for me. I have a lot of difficulty with paying attention to certain sorts of details and typos are for sure in that category.

What's even worse is when I know how to spell a word and have used it for years of my life, only to have a brain fart one day and completely butcher it over doubts, half-formed ideas, brain fog or whatever else. I recently spelled 'pacifism' as something like 'passifiscm', looked at it and thought "WhAt a WeIrDlY SpELleD wOrD" before continuing on. Not a single thought more was spent on it until someone else, lightly and politely, corrected me on it lol

Edot: typos 😭

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I find myself often going back and ninja editing a post I just made. Even though I read over it before I submitted. Used to not be this bad; my thoughts and grammar, even in a gaming chat, were coherent. Oh well.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

FYI: On newer versions of Lemmy's front end, it doesn't show edits made withint 5 minutes anymore, but if you view it from, say, Piefed, it still shows (pretty sure).

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

I think that may be a shared thing among the different software, Mbin seems to give you a few minutes without labeling it.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

With t9? Never. I even typed in full sentences with proper punctuation and grammar!

With a slid-out half-keyboard? Never.

With a full QWERTY (HTC Dream was amazing): Never.

With a giant sweet on-screen keyboard? Every other word. Sometimes like five in a row. Autocorrect catches almost all of them, but it’ll rarely bug out and not work, and I’ll take that as a challenge to finish my paragraph even if copying/restarting the program would fix it… and I do very poorly.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I have nerve damage in my hands so typos are a huge part of typing on a phone for me. I've gotten in the habit of going back and rereading a time or two before hitting post because there will always be a few words that are unrecognizable.

(For instance, before I went back just now, "hitting" was "hjrrjbd")

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I swype-type and don't always catch it when different words are used.

[–] Deebster@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago

Same, and they can be some truly baffling typos.

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

On a keyboard, almost never. From my phone, nearly every other comment. I have a lot of edits lol.

Apparently every tyime I start typing a response to this question.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

All the time. Its really embarrassing tbh. Got worse when I accidentally turned off autocorrect for a month.

[–] Canopyflyer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago
[–] serpineslair@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Probably quite often on mobile, however I type very quickly and no autocorrect (same as you) so I get quite quick at deleting what I've typed and trying again lol.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago
[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I'm on a desktop PC. I have LanguageTool installed, and it flags both spelling and grammar mistakes as I type. Also, I write fiction as a hobby and have plenty of practice typing, so I hope that I don't post too many mistakes.

[–] THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I don't often notice my typos,

But when do, it's after a day and a ton of interaction with said comment.
