How many tons of food are shoplifted from the average grocery store? How many tons go into the dumpster because they were deemed not sellable, even though plenty of people would happily take it at a discount?

I at least have never seen anyone shoplift food, so clearly this is a non issue.

At a grocery I worked at, one of the managers got busted because someone realized the full cart of groceries he took out to his car every week or so wasn't always paid for.

I have less sympathy for management, but I guess they're still more labor than ownership. Was certainly a bold theft.

I work in the produce department and I just tell people to eat the fruit, fuck em.

I've never seen someone actually stealing food. It's always electronics.

I'm still going to keep my mouth shut, but I'm not pretending like is not easy to steal so people do it.
