Does 'liberal' just mean "one's political opponents"?
Liberal, democrat, millennial, woke, illegal alienβ¦ the list is endless of everything the right hates and insults. Itβs not limited to political disagreement, itβs anything that could potentially make them expend effort to understand and not be an asshole about.
I mean asking an average American to define any established political term is like asking a child where Christmas presents come from.
They do not get properly educated about it, average Joe America gets what little political understanding they have from propaganda merchants motivated to keep them angry.
At this point I just stay confused because even when I look up what liberal means it's not used that way it seems. I'll never understand politics, I just wanna enjoy life.
I hate to break it to you but there's a malignant group of people using politics to make sure you don't enjoy your life.
Unfortunately opting out only ensures you get taken advantage of. In order to enjoy life, these people need to be stopped, and knowing what they are up to and why is a big part of doing that
This is a problem across the world FWIW, a primary goal of the international right wing cohort of politicians is to keep people from knowing about politics. As soon as anyone gets their head around the basics, they see right through the lies they make.
The antidote to right wing politics is simply knowledge.
They would not be able to garner enough support if enough people understood a vote for a right winger will, statistically speaking, categorically make their life worse.
Moreso because an American Liberal is more of libertarian capitalist than a true liberal. They want a free market before they want a free people. American Liberals are right wing while the media contantly calls them "the left" of the country.
Americans aren't merely uneducated. They're misinformed and gaslit.
The one thing leftists and conservatives can agree on.

Iβm pretty sure conservatism is a form of liberalism, specifically neo-liberalism?
For american conservitives "liberal" means neo-liberal and "conservitive" means neo-conservitive.
Both into global interventionism just divided on soft vs hard power.
Both are vaguely "christian" in the cultural sense.
Both nationalist though the right owns the idea more but tie it greater to concept of both christian and white identies.
Leftists and conservatives each mean a different group of people when saying "liberal". Conservatives are only liberals in the leftist definition
So if I find stupid mother's and fuck them, does that make me a liberal? Just trying to understand.
Only if you are compelled to show how proud you are.
Imagine claiming in 2026 that the market is a good distribution system and it needs just a few simple tweaks.
