I'm not aro or ace but I still feel this way. Kissing is weird and gross and you can't convince me otherwise!
Gross things are hot. All sex stuff is gross
I agree with that in general (my dumb username related) but something about mouth-to-mouth kissing is uniquely off-putting and unpleasant to me, and I find hugging and cuddling to be strictly superior (admittedly their purposes don't entirely overlap). Crown/forehead/neck/other body kisses are nice, though.

toothpaste and brushes are really old lol. and while most formulations probably didn't help teeth like modern ones they'd certainly fix smelly mouths & shit caught in teeth.
before proliferation of sugars/smoking it was a lot easier to take care of teeth anyway

except these cultural norms almost always predate both germ theory and modern sanitary technologies. an anthropologist would point out that there is no reason kissing should be considered a natural gesture.
I thought it wasto ensure exchange of one particular virus that was fatal to fetuses if the mother contracted it during pregnancy but harmless if she contracted it before.

never have i ever felt more vailidated. do you know how many times i've been shamed, browbeaten, or accused of not being capable of love for not wanting to kiss partners/family/people? Everyone always told me shit like 'its just how the world works' or 'its something you have to get used to' like its some inherent, essential part of living existence, when its just some disgusting euro shit forced on the rest of us. I hate saliva, I hate kissing, spit smells disgusting, and the number of biological fluids i want on or around me is incredibly limited and exclusive. i'm not even aro or ace as far as i can tell.

Pop-sci online magazine for anthropology, with some institutional backing. Idk how much of their editorial staff are scientists, but it seems similar to quanta magazine, which turns out high quality popsci articles for math and physics.
