If it hasn't happened yet I'd be very surprised.

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip 120 points 2 days ago (2 children)

and he lived to be 80. what warning tale is the ghost trying to tell?

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 68 points 2 days ago (5 children)

TBF due to medical advances the average lifespan in 2075 is 192 and only poor people and wards of the state get buried next to the wind farms.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

but they're from 1995, not 2075

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Oh, please no. I'm 42, and questioning if reaching 52 is even worth it. I sure could have gone without these past 10 years, and it REALLY feels like it'll only get worse from here.

I get it now. I get RFKjr. He KNOWS his medical opinions are going to kill people faster. He's trying to save people from suffering from......his own political party.

Ok, nope. I was wrong. He's still an idiot. Still though. 192 years old??? What do I look like? Someone who's enjoying my day???

same bro same

I'm happy if I live long enough to see the Great War of 2077

[–] Not_Dav3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you've seen one war, you've seen them all because war... war never changes.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well.....thats just factually not true.

I'd say there was a HUGE difference between the mongolian war, the american revolution, and WWIII.

.......oh wait. You guys are still in 2026. Give it a year. They called it "the drone war". Sponsered by Fox News. The first war Fox News was able to semi-accurately report. Mostly because they were funding/leading it.

[–] Not_Dav3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I was referencing Fallout and so was the person I was replying to.

The Crispr dna repair, synthetic young blood substitution, stem cell organ rejuvination, and enzyme telomere repair being perfected and widespread available make age related diseases such as bone loss, wrinkles, cancer, heart failure, cataracts almost nonexistent.

People look like their late 20s into their 80s.

[–] Addv4@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Provided you can afford it.

That's easy. Don't be an American

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 2 days ago

Oh, actually, this timeline implies people like Republicans are extinct and healthcare is a human right. Otherwise defeating climate change is entirely off the table.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

...with no other graves around him.

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

oh... well now it is starting to make sense.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 2 points 2 days ago

But still, the future is better. I could ~~live~~ die with that.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

His tombstone isn't the color he asked for.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 41 points 2 days ago

Spoiler alert: it was a nuclear winter

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Beating climate change is (mostly) a mind game. Societal changes needed aren’t too dramatic, but that’d make a few uber-wealthy less rich right this second, so here we are.

So what this comic really implies is “we beat corporate propaganda! We spread a scientific message to the masses!”

Now that would be something.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That is simply not true. It undersells by a wide margin how much very real danger we are in even if every were to go PERFECTLY from here on out. If capitalism collapsed completely tomorrow and we all were suddenly gay space communists, we would still be in the fight of our (humanity's) lives. A mass extinction has already begun and to stop it requires an insane amount of either energy and unproven tech or massive upscaling of natural regeneration.

We are so far from the edge of the woods we can't see the light between the trunks.

It's also worth saying that gay space Communism does not magically mean everything switches to being environmentally friendly.

I like how the hood forms that effect like a furled eyebrow of somebody who is annoyed.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 2 days ago

It's sad that the part of this I find unrealistic, is not the ghost

What a pleasant fantasy

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Sometimes the first two ghosts really nail it.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Got to live to 80? Sounds like a warm hug.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Isn't that everyone's future? WTF that ghost wants?
