A comm for Lord Of The Rings Memes!

Rules:

  1. Follow the ToS of Piefed.social

  2. Don't be too rough with each other! We're here to appreciate, and sometimes lightly rib, Tolkien's fantastic creation, and all of its derivative works. Arguments happen, but remember, in the words of Tolkien, that food and cheer and good song are what make a merrier world!

  3. AI content will be removed at moderator discretion. We ultimately want to keep AI content in this comm to a minimum, so while unknowingly sharing an AI meme might not always merit a removal, things like AI videos and the like will generally be removed.

Default back to the timeless hobbit motto: That sounds like someone else's problem.

Would you rather be trapped in a shopping mall with 1 silverback gorilla or in a realm with four missing balrogs?

[โ€“] Little_mouse@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are they like mad at me, or just in the realm too?

Are there greedy dwarfs digging too deep around?

One correction: Morgoth didn't "create" any Balrogs. He merely corrupted Maia to his will

New Theory: Tom Bombadil is a reformed Balrog.

Tom Bombadil is (probably) the avatar of Arda itself, which makes him far stronger than a Balrog, but not omnipotent. Theoretically if Tom Bombadil had to solo the entirety of Morgoth's forces in Dagor Dagorath, then he'd probably die, but who knows what would happen to the planet after that ยฏ\(ใƒ„)/ยฏ

So what color does Gandalf become if he kills another one?

[โ€“] The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world 15 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I think it must work like rpg rarities.

Grey>White>Green>Blue>Purple

[โ€“] abfarid@startrek.website 13 points 2 months ago

Ah, yes, Gandalf the Uncommon.

[โ€“] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

And possibly also an orange, red, or gold tier

[โ€“] treesquid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Gold is "legendary". Good ol' Gandalf The Gold.

I wonder if they ever caused any problems or just chilled wherever they were for eternity?
