The state doesn't just have the right to charge the ICE officer. It has the obligation to charge him.

And when the state fails the obligation falls on the people.
And when the people fails the obligation falls on the bears.
What I'm getting at is we need to train bears to attack ICE agents. Maybe leave effigies of meat wrapped in ICE gear in the forests?
Or go to a gay bar on buffalo wings night
Then....

Robert Bennett, a veteran lawyer in Minneapolis who has worked on hundreds of federal police misconduct cases during his 50-year career
FYI for anybody else that saw “misconduct expert” and said wtf is that.
Yeah, he's the GOOD kind of misconduct expert, not an expert on committing misconduct like cops tend to be.
I truly hope they took him into custody right away. They did, right?
“ICE agents do not have absolute immunity.”
That this needs to be stated explicitely is so sad.
From the released footage, it appears that the murderer, Jonathan Ross, was holding his phone camera and filming the entire murder. That is critical evidence that the state needs to have to either prosecute or potentially exonerate Jonathan Ross. I’m not sure why more of the reporting on this murder isn’t covering that detail. Again, murderer Jonathan Ross is in possession of critical murder evidence that documents a fuckin’ murder.
it appears that the murderer, Jonathan Ross, was holding his phone camera and filming the entire murder.
Christchurch much?
BTW we have plenty video of everything, there really is no question. I recommend this 404media article.
He should be prosecuted for destroying evidence.
Edit: surprisingly, his video was released around the time I posted this.
Some key details from the phone footage.
- It was a handheld phone cam, not a body cam. ICE has thousands of dollars in equipment, but is choosing not to equip body cams; which could have kept his hands free to protect himself. Handheld allows the footage to be far shakier, so he can emphasize the idea he was "struck".
- The footage doesn't contain all of the gunshots. In high likelihood, it had to have been edited before posting, for this to be the case.
It was definitely edited.
It’s so stupid. People like JD Vance are so stupid. They don’t even consider that they could spin this as a bad event, and the shithead should be prosecuted and that their ICE actions are valid. I don’t agree with ICE and I’m not defending them. But if ICE is valid, then it’s valid that they could fuck up too. It would help their cause to run things in a less toxic way.
But this is asking for nuance from this administration. They're a bunch of maladjusted sociopaths. And to reiterate: I’m not defending ICE.
At this point they don’t care about looking good. They care about looking powerful. They want people to know they can do this and nothing happens. Look what Miller is saying. We can do whatever we want to other countries because we have the power to do so. Same with ICE here.
These people suck. And there’s 10s of millions in this country that support them. Midterms won’t save us. Only reprogramming them will.
Hardware disposal > reprogramming
It would honestly make the administration look better if they said "this ICE agent went rogue and will be held accountable. ICE as a whole does not condone this", but instead, they're defending it and effectively telling us ICE will continue to kill innocent citizens with impunity. They're telling us this is what they're supposed to be doing
That would be terrible for their recruiting metrics.
It's one of a few weaknesses they have. The whole "stick to your guns" strong-and-tough-guy ideology makes it impossible to backtrack, quickly pivot, or even feign concern, to achieve a quick tactical victory. All that is tantamount to failure and admitting defeat. Instead, they have to either build a massive smokescreen, lie their pants off, or dig even deeper into an already cursed situation. Then there's tribalism, making it impossible to publicly throw their own goons under the bus. It's a stupid and weirdly consistent mindset (i.e. lawful evil), but when it comes to this cabal and their supporters, it's kind of their whole deal.
Their cause and purpose is terror and psychological abuse. For that reason they are already on point for serving their cause.
Yeah but he knows that if they think they have to follow rules... Trump supporters that can barely read and write wouldn't sign up to be jack-booted thugs.
Nuance? I’m valid. If I accidentally walk into a bank demanding money, can you spin that?
ICE is valid, but are way outside the scope they have historically been used for, with a flood of barely trained new people, going where they’re not wanted, to terrorize the population on the flimsy excuse of immigrants. They somehow believe they’re above the law and their victims are beneath it. If your “nuance” is this entire mission is criminal, ok. But there’s no nuance saying you can go this far into depriving people of rights, then claim that executing them is an accident
Ok. So, like...what are they waiting for? If I shoot someone on video, I'd already be in prison.
Jonathan Ross took off right after the shooting. Actually putting him in prison means locating his lair and actually arresting him, which may be difficult if a ton of armed feds are there protecting him.
He can be charged and a warrant issued. He can be a fugitive
Well hey, maybe members of his immediate family can be located and used to “entice” him out of hiding in some fashion. It’s a tactic ICE is using after all, so it’s fair to use it against them.
Charge any feds with obstruction of justice
Yeah, I'd be willing to bet he's been flown out on an ICE plane to Texas or Florida or DC. You'd need to involve federal law enforcement in actually arresting him if he's fled the state, and that will go over like a wet fart with the department who keeps saying he's done literally nothing wrong.
To be fair, it sounds like you're not a cop and therefore you're not legally immune to the consequences of your actions according to fascism 🤷
They can, but they won't. Everyone knows the Dems' donors won't allow them to put up any real resistance against fascism. Best they'll do is a public condemnation, maybe a pinky swear to hold the next one accountable, if we're lucky.
