General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I mean i can accept that switching to Mastadon is a bridge too far for them, but why the hell all these officials, politics, journalists etc are still on the service formerly known as twitter really is beyond me.

Bluesky exists. It's effectively what Twitter was before that tit bought it. There's no excuse for still being on whatever letter of the alphabet Twitter is called now.

Also apparently Threads now have more users than X and Bluesky, even though no one talks about it or seem to use it

If this is true, the only reason would be that meta automatically gave every Facebook account a Threads account

It's simple: it has a huge audience. You want to get your message across to as many people as possible, that's the place to do it.

It sucks, because something like Mastodon would be perfect, but it would be like shouting into the wind.

Yeah Bluesky has 600k posters a day (and it’s been slowly declining). X has hundreds of millions of posters, literally two or three orders of magnitude more. It’s really sad that people can’t change their habits.

if people migrate to bluesky, it will be as shit as Twitter/X.

Twitter was trash way before Musk bought it.

Be easier to just remove the ability to generate all images, if it can create images, people will find a way to jailbreak it.

People who didn't quit using that website 1 to 3 years ago are either racist or incredibly cynical.

Why is musk this hellbent on producing and selling child porn?

[–] ThunderQueen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Because all of his friends, and probably he, are pedophiles.
