Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

there is no current word on their condition as the situation is evolving, but i am expecting both to be dead and hope to be wrong. either way, ICE nazis are committed to upholding fascism at the expense of human lives. we are more unsafe now than we’ve been before in this administration. ICE does not view any of us as exceptions. we will be slaughtered if Der Führer demands it.

What I'm hearing lately is that these officers are constantly shooting people because they are afraid. If you're such a scaredy cat, maybe you should get a desk job or be a Wal Mart greeter.

[–] rothaine@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

"agents", not "officers". Officers have training and qualifications.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

ICE agents are federal law enforcement officers, working under the DHS.

Anyone calling ICE agents 'officers' is stating fact.

[–] rothaine@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"officers" is far too respectful

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 2 points 1 day ago

Assuming you are so off the far end that you respect an officer.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Some training sure, but a house painter has more.

Not to denigrate house painters, but if they really fuck up, a wall looks like shit, and if an officer fucks up, a flashbang gets tossed into a crib in a completely different house than the one they had a warrent for.

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If a car IS headed towards you (that isn’t even proven yet) shooting it will not stop it from hitting you. The entire premise of the argument they’re trying to make is faulty.

[–] Decq@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If anything, the car accelerated because of the murder. So if he was in any actual danger, his actions would have hurt him more than not shooting.

[–] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

It's too bad he didn't actually get squashed.

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 43 points 2 days ago

There's no such thing as a "defensive shot" at a moving vehicle. Your bullet isn't going to stop a car. All it does is to change a guided vehicle into an unguided vehicle.

That's why US law enforcement agencies have policies that one should only shoot at someone in a moving vehicle if they would be an imminent danger to others if allowed to flee.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 144 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm local enough to have heard the sirens. Local word is wounded, not killed.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 63 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

oh good, some relief. thank you for any information.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago

It's still evolving, we'll see where it goes. I'm expecting protests in 3-2-1...

[–] OshagHennessey@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Anyone else noticed they're starting this stuff in the deep blue states with tight gun regulations and assault weapon bans?

[–] Luxyr@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 2 days ago

They are attempting to punish states that don't support him. Gun ownership isn't going to stop them. MN is pretty middle of the pack for ownership, at ~43% of households.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 75 points 3 days ago

I’m pretty sure they’re about to start killing whoever they don’t like. I’m sure palantir has a list ready to go

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 85 points 3 days ago (9 children)

Well that didn't take long, how long before this is found to be lies top to bottom?

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 140 points 3 days ago (4 children)

'Weaponized their vehicle' seems to be ICE's favorite excuse per some stat I saw earlier in the day...

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 37 points 3 days ago

Doesn't matter what you do, they'll claim you were a threat...

The only exception is carrying a big fuck off rifle yourself, because then you're actually a threat.

I've never seen a video or heard of an event where American law enforcement murdered a civilian while sympathetic protesters carrying rifles were within line of sight.

We all know they're cowards. We'd be stupid not to do the one thing that prevents overreach.

Bunch of tootsie pops running around talking about an owl infestation, you only get licked a couple times till you get cracked

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

It makes sense, no different from if they were arresting people in kitchens and claiming they had a knife

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

If I were better with AI I’d add ICE uniforms and masks.

I feel like they inherently lose any legitimacy when using emotive language like "vicious" in official statements from a public body

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

They lost legitimacy about 12 months ago when the CROTUS (child rapist of the united states) installed loyalists despite their lack of experience or truthfulness.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yup, it's an immediate red flag that you're dealing with propaganda rather than actual reporting. So gross to see official US government statements being written like a 4chan post. So it goes with fascists.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

The base isn't going to rile itsself. Well, I guess they do, but you get where I'm going with this.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 61 points 3 days ago (3 children)

this is contributing to the false narrative that ICE is legitimate. they aren’t. they should have never been established and must be abolished. not only that but their current iteration is acting on illegal orders by a fascist dictator president. even if what they’re saying is true it doesn’t justify their actions because they shouldn’t fucking be there in the first place.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

they should have never been established and must be abolished.

It's wild how many people legitimately don't know it didn't exist 25 years ago...

Like, obviously we don't need it, it's practically brand new for a federal agency. The only reason it's as big as it is, is we e been rotating between neoliberals and republicans for 30 years, while both groups moved right.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 19 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It's an entire agency that is 90% staffed with tactical units enforcing MISDEMEANOR civil infractions that the supreme court gave unlimited authority because their scope of work was narrow to the limit where normal people shouldn't ever encounter them.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

I mean, TECHNICALLY correct. Prior to 2003 ICE was called INS. They were around since 1933:

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 42 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"fearing for his life", unfortunately they're all about to understand what that really means if things get more out of hand across the country

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] ikies@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Anything I don't like is "Tren de aragua" related

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago

They fear not getting a chance to kill a minority.

[–] SinAdjetivos@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Its not a lie, there's a formal point system to determine whether someone is associated with Tren de Aragua. 8 points means they're definitely a part of the gang.

It's 3 points for being in the US without documentation, 6 points for associating with any known members and 2 points for any social media posts containing "associated references".

Practically every Venezuelan is part of the gang according to the DoJ. So it's not a lie, just guilt by association.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

It is a lie, it's just a lie built on a system designed to lie. No rational person who is genuinely seeking to understand whether or not someone is a member of that gang would read that list and agree with it.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago
[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

When are they going to arrest the kiddie rapist and human trafficker in the White House?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Not while he's in office, they already established that...

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Nor will they ever. If we ever get to a Nazi-purging stage Trump will be long gone by then.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

It’s always some excuse

If they just keep shooting more and more people, people will forget the outrage at shooting the last person

[–] whitecollarcry@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

ah the ol school shooter bamboozle

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

These gestapo pieces of trash should get the same treatment as the "I WaS OnLY FOlLoWiNg OrDeRs" treatment the Nazis got. Trial and... well... it doesn't end well for them.

Exactly as it fucking should end.

[–] Breezy@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Imagine how many people they point their guns at every day. After the most recent shooting, it is probably triggering the flight response to everyone they point at so much more then it already was.

[–] MITM0@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

They're essentially a death-squad

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

One kind of whistle for these motherfuckers, and it ain't on a lanyard around my beck
