The head of Minnesota’s state investigations agency said Thursday that the U.S. attorney’s office has barred it from taking part in the investigation into an ICE officer’s fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman.

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said in a statement that after the agency consulted with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, the U.S. attorney’s office and the FBI following the Wednesday shooting of 37-year-old mother of three Renee Nicole Macklin Good, “it was decided that the BCA Force Investigations Unit would conduct a joint investigation with the FBI” and that the “BCA responded promptly to the scene and began coordinating investigative work in good faith.

He said the FBI informed the BCA later Wednesday that the U.S. attorney’s office had changed the plan.

This is obstruction of justice. They are preventing state level prosecution. My prediction is that they will most likely find that the officer's conduct was legal and he'll get off. Or if they attempt to actually pretend they give a shit about the rule of law in the face of public backlash, they'll charge him knowing Trump will just pardon him. They are stopping the state from getting the evidence necessary to bring their own charges specifically so that they maintain control and the ability to pardon this guy if needed. They have no intention of holding him to account, or letting the state of Minnesota do so, no matter what they find.

Yup, exactly. They want to keep it federal (and avoid state charges), because Trump specifically can’t pardon state charges.

Gee. I wonder why.

We are going to watch in real time the government actively turn on its own citizens. *it’s already happening in all honesty but it’s gonna be more frequent and violent.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 days ago

Isn't that what we've been watching over the past year?

They know midterms are coming and they need to get to the full dictator plan before then. Sure, they could just steal the vote like they probably did in 2024, but it appears they are going all the way. When that happens, all of this pretending that the courts can stop him, that the media matters anymore, that he is still beholden to some tiny facet of constitutinality will be 100% gone.

Then we will have to make the decision that was always coming for us. Liberal democracy was never going to save us, no organization or institution would ever challenge capitalism and the status quo to actually make a difference. Because that's what this is. This is the rich getting tired of pretending to be "woke" and pro-democracy and just going mask off for the sake of total wealth accumulation and control. Fascism is simply outward imperialism coming home and affecting the denizens of the "core" so to speak. But of course that outward imperialism doesn't stop, see Venezuela, Columbia, Greenland, Cuba, Panama, Canada, and Mexico.

My theory on this is that Donny is trying to cause as much chaos in Central and South America, eventually most if not all countries will unite against him and eventually there is a possibility of a South American Isis, forming regardless of their intentions. Trump will use that to declare war on everyone south of the border, and he will use that to justify canceling the midterms as well as suspending the election in 2028 to stay in power forever.

Sure, they could just steal the vote like they probably did in 2024

Oh, please, what the fuck are you on about? Don’t take pages out of their playbook, it never ends well.

[–] dust_accelerator@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

so, the perpetrator is excommunicado

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No, quite the opposite, he's being protected.

Well, just no contracts opened yet.

[–] silvadinlabop@lemmy.cafe 20 points 3 days ago

They can do their own investigation

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 days ago

Investigators are barred by murderers from investigation a murder committed by said murderers

Just fixing news headers here

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 16 points 3 days ago

It was always going to have to be an independent investigation though. Working jointly with the people who committed the murder was never a real option right?

[–] fletcher_bosom@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Time to call in the National Guard to eject these thugs from Minnesota. And on open arrest warrant if that cowardly murderer ever steps foot back in the state.

[–] Mohamed@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago

Isn't there a legally important conflict of interest here? The investigation is against an officer of ICE, given immunity by the Executive Branch. An investigation is only trustworthy, at least a bit, if handled by an outside investigator.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 days ago

Wow. This is the new attempted coverup? The statute of limitations for murder doesn't exist. The feds can cover things up now, Trump can pardon the guy, and the state will still have the ability to lock him up for life later.

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Of course they are. Its not like these liars care they killed a mother of three. A person who wasn't protesting. Not that they get a free pass harming protesters. I think about that kid she dropped off at the school right before she was murdered. How his life was normal and now he doesn't have his mother. All because a proven unstable coward decided to murder her.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 9 points 3 days ago

Protecting their own. No surprise.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Expected as much. Way easier for trumps bitches to control the narrative that way. Their lies will be all anyone will hear

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Don't worry, Kameleon Kash is on the job! He'll get to the bottom of what was motivating that terrorist bitch, but the operating theory is she was an ANTIFA leader.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

He won't do any such thing. Trumps rules are all he follows, or we'd have all the epstein files by now

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago

Butcher Barbi went into great detail about all the protesting vehicles blocking ICE vehicles. Clearly, it is working in slowing them down, allowing their targets to get a longer head start, and they are pissy about it. They don't like their authority challenged. We are going to find out that orders came down to send a message to blockers by shooting one.

We're going to find out who The Killer is, eventually. We'll learn all about him, his family, his upbringing, and discover the level of human they're hiring.

And then we'll who ordered him to shoot into a blocking vehicle, all the way up the chain, and I'll bet the orders came from Butcher Barbi, as demanded by Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

The FBI is doing their best Alanis Morissette impression, because this case is about to be Under Rug Swept.

[–] BeautifulMind@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Well, yeah. The feds can't block state criminal charges, so obvs they need to obstruct state investigation of crimes committed by feds
