Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Federal officers fired tear gas to disperse early-morning protesters as outrage mounted in Minneapolis over the killing of a 37-year-old woman in her vehicle.

It's time to treat ICE as the organized criminal organization that it is

Obstruction of justice say what?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That’s all trump did in his first term, besides giving trillions to billionaires. Nothing happened.

“Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demand."

This is gaslighting by cowardly state officials. If you can get official records great. But they are not necessary. You have countless eye witnesses and multiple angles of video recording the murder. You don't refuse to prosecute gang hits because you don't have access to official cartel records. No different with ICE.

This is bullshit stonewalling by cowards in state office who are afraid to hold the powerful accountable.

I imagine without access to all to data, it can give the opportunity for the defense to call for a mistrial.

He's was also on 'official duty', so the administration is trying to push it out of MN's system by saying she was the aggressor who attempted to kill him. (If he was killed, it would be instantly out of MN's hands)

I bet they threaten more politicians families. And they folded.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 40 points 2 months ago (1 children)

so don't use the evidence they aren't giving you and use what you can get. the public videos and statements from witnesses should be enough.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Hoisted by our own petard!

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago

I wouldn't let them investigate either, if I was trying to cover up a murder.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 2 months ago

So stop investigating, take the material you have, which is enough to put the murderer into prison.

What do you mean by "can't access the evidence"? Can someone send this MF a Lemmy link with the video?

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

They probably dont have access to the gun, brass, or maybe even bullets lodged in the victim or vehicle. Those, along with crime scene photographs, would usually be presented at trial.

They may not even have a positive id on the shooter, since they hide behind masks - they know what they’re doing is criminal

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

They mean the feds are keeping out the state/local police.

So they can cover it up.

[–] HurricaneLiz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think the world's gov'ts that are trending authoritarian will get the data centers they need to sift thru everyone's internet history and kill/imprison/deport those who disagree with them politically. I have a hard time believing they won't go with the kill option bc it's more economic. So, bye!!! See ya next life!!!

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

It's the final solution

[–] LemUser@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

So conduct your own investigation you twits.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Right, right, and, uh, what was that agent’s name agian? Uh, just so we know not to investigate it. (“*snkk* Shutup! shutup”)
Ah, yeah I got a pen. Go ahead.
